Velkan was born in Year 173 in the Beqanna-of-Old, though the exact location has been lost to memory. He was cooked up as an experiment by Anaxarete, an attempt to make a new monster. Like all the non-xenomorph children, Velkan was born violently by Ripley instead of being laid inside of an egg. Although he certainly had monster qualities, it was evident very early on that Velkan was not a monster and Ripley attempted to eat him rather than suffer his attentions.

Velkan lived on his own but always near his mothers, because though Anaxarete was cold and Ripley feral - they were his only family. This close-then-far pattern continued well into his adulthood until he finally separated from them, hopefully for good. He began to wander on his own, looking to start fresh with his own life and make new friends.
