    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Aten couldn't believe how things were spiraling now... Castile moving in on Taiga... Lepis stepping down... Pteron being appointed the leader with Castile as the king... Wolfbane now on the loose, and the threat of hurting Lethia...

He was beyond frustrated at this point, and he didn't know what to do. He wanted to either show Castile he had a reason to trust him so Aten could watch over Taiga... but that stallion was obviously set on thinking that Aten was a mistake and unworthy of Taiga's leadership. Without even knowing him... and he felt he had screwed things up too...

He respected Lepis for the work she'd done... but she'd practically handed Taiga over to Castile, without a fight... and no horse was even trying to rein Wolfbane in now... who knows what he would end up doing to Lethia and their foals?

Aten would set that stallion straight before he even had a chance, but he would never stop worrying... he couldn't live with himself if something happened to his mate and their foals... and it was this anger and frustration that sent him on a long gallop through Taiga's wilderness, his mind lost and his coat gleaming as his hair shifted in between solid scales and a horse's coat the more his thoughts raced.

If it weren't for Turul flying in suddenly and warning Aten that he was headed for a small drop, the stallion would've kept going and potentially injured himself. But when he was in such a state, few could get through to him. Turul was one of them, luckily.

The raptor had news of Lilliana and another horse not far away at the border, so Aten decided to investigate and take his mind off of the shit-storm Taiga was in the middle of. He stopped a few yards from Lilliana and the new mare when he got near them, hearing Lilliana speak before he walked up to them, breathing to calm down so he wouldn't unease either mare with his unusual appearance.

"Nice to see you in good health Lilliana," he greeted, hoping the mare still thought well of him in turn and appreciated being on friendly ground, for Aten still considered her a friend, "I hope I am not interrupting anything, but I wanted to come and greet this new arrival as well."
