    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She watched, and replied a denial to her question. "Nor I." Priel says, auds flickering as a small movement, just near the other mare, but she saw nothing and assumed it a whisper of wind tricking her sensitive ears.

She started to turn away, as it was obvious she was not needed here. As usual. But she stayed, froze as a fourth scent appeared in her now-flared nostrils.

"Does anyone else smell a fourth horse?" She queries the other two, turning back towards them.

His pretty one was disturbed, questioning his sweet caress. Her confusion was at first a treat, something to watch and savor, but was slowing shifting into a nuisance. He began wanting something he shouldn't; wanting her to know it was him. This other mongrel couldn't touch like him, couldn't make her feel delightful things like he could. Her breath quickened just the slightest bit each time he reached for her. He wanted the credit for that. That pretty blush on her face belonged to him. Her accelerated heartbeat was his.

He nearly growled when the man stepped closer to her. Glaring silently, he watched the grey reach for her, asking permission to touch her in a soft and seductive sort of voice. So gentle. Unseen eyes narrowed. Before lovely Romy could answer, the larger woman sniffed about like a nosy little rabbit. "Does anyone else smell a fourth horse," she asked as she finally caught his scent. He roamed the meadow and the forest in equal measure, and his scent was common. Her only hint that he was near was that it was stronger with his immediate presence.

He was of the mind to knock her unconscious. But finding some other toy was much simpler, much cleaner. This troublesome crowd was no longer worth his time. The beautiful Romy would let this other come near and touch her, and his fun would be over. This broad mare would sniff around like mangy mutt until she barreled into him. It seemed his time was up for today, but that would not stop him from finding her again tonight. If he wished.

Standing stone still at Romantica's right flank, he bent and placed a soft little kiss on her hip. Perhaps, one day, she'd know it was him. But for now, just a silent good bye. Or maybe, til next time. He turned his direction in a single step, and with thickly coiled muscles he launched himself into the air with a leap. His wings took over and soon he was away. Finding her again some day may be fun.

    He might think on it.
