Besra is the first child of Zeik and Felinae, and was born out of the natural season (in the winter) in the Mourning Mountains, where her dam was being held captive by a dangerously sadistic chamber stallion named Gryffen. After their escape she grew up in the safety of the Gates until her younger sister was born, then she left to find a life of her own. In the field, she came across Phaedrus and Archam, who both vied for her as a herd mare. She chose to go with Phaedrus and found that the two had a natural affinity towards each other. Spending little time with her new herdmates, Besra was stolen away by Archam to Cobblestone Creek, where she made a deal for her freedom in exchange for her firstborn daughter. Gyps, her daughter, was born safely within the Golden Plains, and soon thereafter Besra was named Lead Mare by Phaedrus, tasked to care for the herd in his times of absence.
