    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

the words she knows the tune she hums

Zaravich has been uncomfortable for the past few weeks. Her stomach was full, and she was unable to run around like she used to. Today she had exceptional pain, the mare grew tired after countless pain from the middle of the night to the now mid-day. Her stomach was contracting since last night, she figured this was normal as she had never foaled before. She was excited to be a mother but nervous to be judged by her kingdom. It was obvious in her last couple of months that she was pregnant, but she still has not seen Weir or Ramiel since she was truly bulging.

The pain grew to strong and zara was forced to buckle her legs until she was laying down. It only seemed normal that she started to push, the pain was unreal and she felt like she was pushing forever but nothing was happening. She gave a whinny in pain, there was no one around. She grew scared to be doing this alone, she never imagined her life to be like this. None the less she called this upon herself, and she would be the best mother she could. She gave a couple of pushes, giving everything she had, grunting in pain and finally, and black foal came out. Zara was quick to lift herself up, amazed that she was even able to. The foal layed there motionless and fear was quick to grow, she nudged the lifeless foal who did not yet take a gasp of air. The nerves struck her leading her to bolt off, she ran as fast as before she was pregnant. The mare gave out a whinny, it was obvious distress was in her voice. She turned back around running back to the foal, would this filly gain a life? she nudged the foal again and at that moment it took its first breath.

Zaravich gave a sigh of relief as the filly has proven to be alive, but was clearly weak. She nuzzled the foal removing cleaning it, and slightly nudging the foal. She was nervous that although the foal was breathing would not live, she needed to get up or else she could not feed. Zara continued to nudge the foal until it tried to get up on its own, it was wobbly as most newborns were, but her foal was especially wobbly, weaker than most. No one was around to calm Zaras nerves, or tell her if this was normal or not. With the assistance of Zara the foal got up and was able to stand on her own with the help of her mother. Zara gave a sigh of relief, the foal was obviously weaker than she should be, and Zara was unsure if the foal would live a life past a foal. She was glad to see the all black filly resembled herself rather than the stag known as the fillies father. She couldnt help but smile looking down at the foal, she thought of names while pregnant and was unsure, but looking at the filly she knew. "Josie" she spoke softly nudging the foal towards her milk.
