"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura
It was a long LONG night...her body was aching so terribly and her head still spinning, but after hours and hours of pushing and pain. There lie what made her the size of Jupiter all those months. She knew she shouldn’t have fallen for the charming stag in the meadow. But now...she has...not just one...but TWO children. She could barely handle her little sister Nerissa!!! Now she has to care for two fillies. Of course...the motherly instinct had kicked in, even though she really had not a clue of what to do. The panther woman did not know one thing on how to raise children. She kinda just kept an eye on Nerissa, since she was never a problem. But two fillies?? That was going to be tough. Oh..and they were HERS….HER….she knew they were going to be two hooves full…
Both were identical dark bay fillies with light hazel eyes, and both had a perfect socks on three legs. Naga could barely tell them apart except for the fact that one was a tad smaller than the other. The small one huddled up beside her, she was weaker than the other too, she reminded Naga of the moon, it’s weak yet beautiful glow that gives her peace. Such a likeness earned her her name, Iluna. The other, was stronger, a little more active. She reminded Naga of the sun, warm and bright, so she gave her the name Eirwen. Her two little to be trouble makers. Hopefully she could return to her duties soon, she didn’t know how long she could stand not doing SOMETHING for the kingdom.
She stepped slowly, making sure her two little shadows were close beside her at all times. The jungle was warm tonight, it was her favorite part of the late spring. She knew soon the whole rest of Beqanna would be warm soon, no more dumb cold!! She chuckled aloud, looking back to Her girls and stopping for them to grab a snack. It was a strange feeling, but she guessed she would get used to it. Beats carrying the both of them in her stomach...she hoped her gut would go away...but that wasn’t important. Iluna looked up at her with wide eyes after licking the excess milk off her little dark velvety lips. Her little voice was somewhat deep, like Naga’s, but her words were broken. You know, toddler talk!
”Muumy? What are we doing? Where going?
Naga smiled, her voice light.
We are going to meet our big family. The sisters. You two will be sisters one day I hope! Iluna, Eirwen, would you like to meet “Muumy”’s friends??
She waited for their reply as if she were talking to a recruit, obviously still clueless as how to really talk to children. She wondered, Imogin would probably like to play with them, even though they were a bit younger than her, Nerissa too. She hoped Rhy was around as well to see what she made. Her little minions….little did she know, they had a little surprise for her….She would be surprised that is for sure, maybe even shocked. But no matter what, she would always love her little girls, no matter what they looked like...

"Muumymuumymuumy." Her little voice sings out at she stretches out her legs, and jumps up to proceed in making tight circles around her mother and sister. The tiny bay girl occasionally nipping (well, gumming) her sister's mane, ear, tail- whatever is within reach of each circle that she makes.
Her girlish giggle bubbles forth like a cold spring on granite. Pretty green-gold eyes stare wide at her much darker mommy when she stands still long enough to catch her breath. Pools flicker to her sister with a big, big smile. Long spindly limbs moving to bump against the other bay girl, their little socks and black hair blending together. Where did one start and one end? Eirwen listens when her mother inquires if they should like to meet her friends. Heavy consideration crosses over the tiny brow of the little girl like it were really yp to her before she starts laughing loudly. "Yes muumy!" The energetic filly bouncing (practically vibrating!) from one foot to the other. Little velveteen rubs against her sister's neck before looking back to their mother then to her Iluna. The world was so, so big! Eirwen wanted to meet all the friends!
"Fwends fwends fwends..." Eirwen sings to herself while bopping her head from one side to the other, little black nub of a tail flickering in sync.
sorry it's short. still getting use to the little beauty!
****“Careful.” She is unusually tense, but then, these are unusual circumstances.
****“Oh. Right. Okay, mum!”
****With parenthood, she is intimately familiar; well acquainted with the headlong dive of childrearing. She had been deeply involved in both of her grown children’s early lives. Passing down to them all of her wisdom of the soil and sun and winds; teaching them the virtues of kindness and empathy – with these lessons, she was more firm. They could take or leave her love of nature (though she would not pretend she did not prefer they let it blossom), but of their good natures, she would give no quarter.
****Still, though she may have spent heavy days and nights fretting over the well-being and nurturing of their children, it was never all in her hands. No by a long shot.
****When they leave there is only hope. Hope that her hand continues to guide; hope that they do not fall prey to unkind forces.
****The mousy mare watches the greyish buckskin girl like a hawk. She bounces, shoulder deep in ferns and brush, her gawky gait gaining some semblance of grace slowly. She watches for her ears, and the bob of her short mane. It is a great relief when she finally corrals her daughter from the jungle thicket, into one of the glades contained between great kapoks. She stretches down to nibble at the grass around emergent roots, what little sun that reached them in the deep-down touches her back with warm fingers. ‘Fwends fwends fwends.’ She cannot reach out to the girl to intercept her before she is gone, searching like a bloodhound for the source of the cries. Prepare, panther-woman, there is no rest.
****“Longear...” She follows the bob of that dark mane, the shift of those perked ears. Just as long as she can see that mane… those ears…
****The girl stands unsure beside a banana tree, sniffing at the air and waiting for her mother to catch up. She is bold, but she is a good measure wary. Vineine reaches out her muzzle, chuffing against her daughter neck. “Stop doing that.” She turns her gold-brown eyes, and smiles. “Naga,” She whispers, moving next to Longear, who touches her mother’s rosy shoulder with her lips and blinks at the twins. “They are beautiful.” She does not move close, not until invited, she knows that protective instinct well.
