    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Although Beyza had felt her time with Zain and Oaks had run its course, she had been interested in meeting the galaxy-adorned mare they had eventually found. Something about her had reminded her of Desire, a friend and a name that swims up into her thoughts from a different lifetime she had once so carefully locked away. The one where the world was in darkness and where Beyza’s heart had been covered in matching shadows.

So she returns once again to the place of her birth - a pair of white, feathered wings carrying her across the canyons below. The air is chilled and she does not harden her skin against it. She allows it to bite so that her mind can more easily drift to Ischia and the tropical sunshine she had enjoyed there rather than anywhere else her thoughts may be tempted to stray.

The sun is still relatively low in the periwinkle morning sky when Beyza angles her flight downwards towards a beautiful waterfall.

A little push of magic helps her land with ease. She had once loved to adorn the wings - whether they were made of feather or lightning - so she might pretend to be as radiant as her sister. Now she was out of practice, living a life that rarely required travel and when it did she was free to embrace whatever other manner felt most effective.

Rather than ridding herself of the wings she keeps them folded at her side as she approaches the pool at the base of the waterfall. There’s something magical about it too. She does not draw too close, wary about something that feels so harmless/ Her pale gaze instead turns to the surrounding land - watching for movement. She had not spotted the mare from the sky but there was nothing like a stranger standing in your home to draw someone out.

A meeting of the minds, then.

Margot watches the ivory woman with her pale, eerie eyes glittering something fierce. If there is ever a time to take actual interest in the politics of their world, now is it, while Beqanna slowly wakes up. To strike up alliances and gather knowledge while the all the rest of the world finds their footing is surely the wisest move a leader may take.

But Margot has never claimed to be particularly wise.

And Beyza seems so much more fascinating than whatever drivel kingdom politics drums up.

Those luscious pink tendrils of magic the Pangean leader always keeps close reach out and out and out for the ivory woman. They stretch like a cat freshly awoken from a deep nap, full of lazy energy primed to take off when triggered. So much love seems to live in every creature these days, but Margot is not surprised to find she doesn’t immediately find Beyza’s affections. The smartest of their kind keep their important thoughts locked behind wall after wall of mental fortitude.

Margot smiles. This Beyza is no fool.

“Hello!” she finally calls, whether the woman had noticed her before or not. “You should really take a dip!” she says as she draws closer. “The water is,” pausing here to gesture broadly with her head, “quite restoring if you’ll allow it.” She smiles then splashes knee deep into the pool.

“It’s hot in Pangea. I like to lounge here after a long day of pretending I rule anything of note.” There’s a small, sly smile that follows her sentence—almost as if she doesn’t believe her own words.
