    COTY

    Firion -- Year 217

    QOTY

"She approaches the cave and there is nothing but that anticipation and her ever-present fire inside her. No fear, no flickering echoes of love. It’s all been consumed for now. She is a wildfire contained only by the thin layer of her flesh." --Mazikeen, written by Squirt

    CASIMIRA

dragon-shifting daughter of ashhal and ryatah

Even when she lived in Hyaline she had always come to Tephra to birth their children, but this time it was different.

This time they were living here together—two halves that make a whole, a king and his queen. This time she did not have to worry about when to leave, because Savior was rarely more than a heartbeat away. This time she was with him the entire time, and not just towards the end, and she had not realized how badly she had needed him there until she had seen all that she missed. Realizing this was just another thing to unearth that old guilt she was still trying to move past—to realize once again how much harder she had made things on the two of them by splitting her time in another kingdom.

But she reminds herself constantly what he had said, about how they only needed to think of the future.

And her future was undoubtedly here with him, or wherever he may decide to go.

She is grateful that night has fallen when their fifth child decides to make his appearance. Though the heat never seemed to leave it was at least not nearly as heavy under the velvet dark of a midnight sky, and the faint breeze that rolled off the ocean provided some relief as it brushed across her ever-dampening skin. Finding the overreaching trees and underbrush of the jungle too suffocating right now she had chosen an area close to the beach, where she could see the stars that glittered in the sky, and the moonlight that reflected off the waves as they crashed against the shore.

Eventually though the tranquility of her carefully chosen surroundings was lost beneath the increasing waves of pain, until it, and Savior’s quiet presence, is all she knew.

It is still dark when the colt, after somewhat of a struggle, is finally free. Even in this predawn light she can see that he is striking, with a fire opal blaze set against his black face, and his father’s green eyes blinking in newborn confusion up at her. “He looks like you,” she whispers up to Savior, her gaze lifting from their new son to find his own, a tired kind of elation glittering in her blue eyes. The colt stirs and she looks back to him, once again pressing her mouth to his damp skin, and she is certain that if anything could ever make a heart burst that this would be it.
