    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    DECIMA
Decima was somewhat perturbed that the only company they were immediately offered was  that of children.  Though still very much physically a child herself, Decima was so wholly unamused by the company of children. The only exception, of course, being the company of her sisters.  Decima had toyed with the idea of simply...speeding things along and aging them into adult bodies. However she would never do such a thing without the explicit consent of her sisters, and it was very apparent that she was the only one in the trio that harbored such resentment of her own youth.

She wasn’t the most sentimental of creatures. She didn’t feel anything significant about coming to Ischia and leaving Pangea behind. She didn’t feel deep remorse about leaving her father behind. She already knew, even at this age, that everything got left behind in the end anyway. A morbid thought for a child to harbor, but Decima was not a normal child. None of the trio were, really.

She was pleased it was her sisters, and only her sisters, she’d found this morning.  Decima knew, it being a new place, that she should be open minded about the others here - children included.  She certainly liked this place - it was nicer to look at than Pangea had been, to be sure.  Decima steps into the sea without hesitation, allowing the water and the mist from her sisters’ fog to tangle in her legs and the current to do what it will with her long tail.  While she doesn’t wear the fog ornamentally as her sisters do, she has learned a new trick she must show them one day - where she can become the fog itself and drift along the wind. It’s not particularly the most efficient means of travel but Decima is never one to be much in a rush anyway.

But when Maurtia brings up her companion, it triggers something in Decima’s memory.  And she feels even more foolish when Neuna had clearly realized this earlier, and Decima hopes that this hasn’t been distressing their more tender hearted sister since the moment she’d noticed.  That very thought was enough to cause a twinge in her own chest.

”You know - I haven’t seen Pup either. I thought maybe it was just too bright for him or something at first, but it’s been...a while…” A poor excuse, she knows. She hadn’t thought herself that attached to the little shadow creature until her sister had pointed out his absence, and now Decima felt a tiny pang of what must be guilt for not having done something sooner.  A small frown pulled at her lips as she took a moment to determine what it all meant. Had he stayed in Pangea? Had father taken him away in anger? Had he just failed to make the trip and was waiting for her on the other side of the water?  Or was he lost somewhere here, probably with her sister’s DeeBee?  Too many questions and she absolutely hated the fact that she didn’t have the answers.

She turned her attention from her sisters and took a few steps deeper into the clear, cool waters - narrowing her eyes at the corresponding shoreline on the continent across the sea. “You don’t think they’re over there, do you?” She asked, hoping that they weren’t going to have to make a return trip so soon. She pauses again, trying to think of a way to be helpful, “Would it help if I looked for the last moment we had them?” That was something within her capabilities, at least, even though she felt foolish for not remembering offhand.
