My eyes track lazily from the fire to the black and patchwork stallion, taking a moment for the after image of flames to leave my sight. He's thickly built, muscular even after a time of deprivation. Lovely enough to look at, even if there is something crawling through the locs of his mane.
"Alright, then, No One," I sigh with delicate exasperation. Everyone's entitled to a bit of anonymity, I suppose. My teeth gleam flat in the firelight, a smile and a challenge built into one. The shinmering feathers on my back rustle as I turn to look at him more squarely on.
He knows my name. He knows my territory. What else does the brute know? Bird-like, my head tips to examine him more closely. "Are you a mind-reader?" I ask, already angry at the thought. "Because if you are, it's very rude, meddling in other horse's minds where you don't belong." Very rude, and not something I take kindly to.
He is nice enough to look at, but I won't tolerate intrusions into my mind. Not from him, not from anyone. My heartbeat illuminates the racing tracks etched into my skin with an ever-increasing pace, my eyes boring into his for any sign of falsehood. And if there is none, my mind is more than willing to invent one.
