    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

“Grandmama!” Moira calls, trotting down the white sand beach. “Grandmama, where are you?”

The mare who answers had been leagues away, but she recognizes the voice of her (current) favorite descendent, and arrives in an instant. By the time Moira spots her, the pink dun mare is grazing at the salt grass as though she’s been there all along.

Whickering excitedly, the yearling trots toward her, and long before she’s given her a nuzzle in greeting begins to tell of her adventures. Her great-great-grandmother smiles fondly, listening with intent doe brown eyes and pricked ringed ears.

Djinni is rather fond of the little nereid, treating her to small and temporary wishes (to be able to talk to the parrots, to have a lime-green tail, and most recently: to be the prettiest in all the land). She means them all to be temporary, at least, but there are times when her own magic has a mind of its own.

It appears to have one when it comes to Moira, the genie thinks as she listens to the filly’s tale. The glamour of beauty that she’s cast over the girl’s face before transporting her to Meadow seems to have remained. Perhaps its permanency is a lesson to her as well, in granting only age appropriate wishes. Moira won’t even know what to do with her looks for years.

Ah well, Djinni decides, life is always a little easier for the pretty anyway, and there is no harm in spoiling her grandchildren. The two of them spend the morning together - Djinni teaching Moira how to imitate the porpoise whistles with her equine mouth, and practicing calling the local pod to them.

Near noon, Moira hears her Mother calling, and bids farewell to the genie.

ooc: just some quick character development and part of her quest, please ignore Big Grin
