    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[complete]  they all go into the dark; RESULTS
    #1

    lord, I fashion dark gods too;

As they rise, awaken, he sees the changes. It should not have been so – it was not their corporeal bodies that went into the afterlife, after all – yet logic has no place here, so should he really be surprised? What was taken from them remains gone. Out of curiosity, he works to restore one – not well – but reshapes Manikin’s bones, though they remain brittle. So not impossible to fix, then. He supposes that is for the best.
There are other changes to, he can see, or sense – things carried from the land? Things stolen back, mismatched, as they came back through the mouth? He doesn’t know. He is too tired to know.
    And then –
He senses something else about them. Something that had not been there before. A presence.
He pushes, delves deeper, and knows.
He hadn’t just brought them back.
How quick the creatures had been! To burrow, to nest within them. Parasites to a host.

    He takes a step back.
“It appears,” he says, “that some of you may be...touched.”
    “I think…”
    He swallows.
“Some of them came back with you.”
It should be impossible. Maybe they won’t even be able to survive in this world. And besides, he’s sure he can get rid of them once he’d rested, when his magic isn’t stretching through time and space. It will be fine. A little disruption, maybe, but nothing the world hasn’t seen before.
On the horizon, over the dark sea, there’s a glimmering spot. A chink in the armor. Probably nothing, though. A trick of the light.
“Good luck,” he says again, and then he is gone.

    NOTES:
    - YAY for finishing and I’m sorry for the delay in getting this up!
    - The defects/sacrifice from going into the mouth followed you here (I tweaked Manikin’s, her bones are just very brittle now). They are curable, either via quest or finding a magician/healer/just recovering them over time, or you can keep them forever.
    - You’re also scarred/marked from being eaten alive by the Others. Level of scarring is up to you.
    - So…not everything was closed off nice and tidy. There’s a little glimmer over the ocean of the beach. It’s small, right now. Probably fine.
    - Also, some of you have these alien things/creatures/Others uhh…inside of you. At a later date (WILL be announced in the Discord and an update post here), they can burst out of you Alien-style, you can give birth to them, they can emerge in whatever way you want. You character can be aware there’s something inside of them, or be caught by surprise. This is totally optional, just in case you want the Extra Pain package.

    PRIZES:
    - For your participation you can choose one (1) of the traits below (semi-inspired by what was taken and the quest itself!). These traits were vomited up back into you as you passed back through the mouth:
    o Ghost whispering
    o Self-healing
    o Thought projection
    o Empathic projection
    o Negative empathy
o – Armor Generation (choice of: ivory, fire, light, ice, bone, diamond, natural)
    o Memory manipulation
    o Vision sharing
    o Malleable anatomy
    - If your character isn’t interested in any of the above traits, you can “gift” one of those to their child or a friend/lover of theirs, as long as the exchange takes place IC
    - Please post in updates with what trait you're claiming. Traits are genetic. Multiple horses can claim the same trait.
    - THANK you all I love your posts you are all very talented and should write books.
