    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[complete]  i thought this place was an empire

Occasionally shedding debris as she climbs the mountain, Celina practices what she will say. Even though the young white mare is not sure what she will find, she is as sure as can be that there is something on this Mountain. Something more powerful than anything else in this world.

It had given her the fireflies that blink in her mane, little glowing specks that illuminate her thin blue mane.
Perhaps now it might give her more?

When she arrives at the peak (or what she assumes si the peak, it is hard to tell with the blowing snwo of the blizzard that had started halfway through her ascent), she comes to a halt. Her one feathered wing is held tight to her side, the white feathers doing little to warm her. The other wing is bare, still growing back the feathers. At least the bone has healed, Celina thinks, though she’d kill for something to protect that bare skin. The winter cold will soon turn it black with frostbite. Celina has seen it before (though admittedly never on her own naked wing). On her face it was more grotesque, with the bone of her nose and teeth exposed. Not a pleasant experience, even for the mare who sees her own unpleasant face in the still water when she drinks.

The teeth had been so nice though. Imagine how eerie eyeless sockets would be. The picture sends a thrill down her spine, and Celina grins. This is not the first time she has considered what to ask of the fairies, but it is what she had finally decided upon. It is what she describes when she addresses them, quite and respectful and very little like her true self at all.

She wants to be transparent, so that the world sees only the strong bones of her body. The idea had come from her brothers’ invisibility, a game she and Elio had once played, and that they’d convinced Pteron to participate a time or two. She would not be like those weak, cursed creatures, rotting and oozing and stinking. No, she would be pristine and perfect, the white of her bone protected by the invisible mass of muscle and skin and hide. This she describes eloquently to the empty air – or perhaps to the creature who greats her.

    make-your-girlfriend-mad type, might-seduce-your-dad type

ooc: I would like to quest for the aesthetic trait of “Semi invisible” or maybe “transparent”? Basically she is invisible except her skeleton but is otherwise normal.
And then even if she rolls unsuccessfully for a quest, I’d still like to give up her kelpie mimicry (slowly) and eventually have it just be carried instead of expressed.

Nothing comes but the wind. Ah, no...that is not quite true. It is not the fairies that come, but something. Something in the wind feels wrong. There is no other way to describe it, but it is the sort of the feeling that comes with being watched. The fairies, for all their perceived cruelty, are not unkind creatures.

Whatever finds this mare though? Ah, well it is a fickle thing indeed.

She will feel it, a thing like a leech sucking at blood. There is nothing to see though, only feel, and it is not her blood it wants but her magic. A slow draining though, for whatever it is that latches on stays there, an itch she cannot scratch, a fly she cannot bat away. It will not leave until her power is gone.

You have rolled a 3 and will not receive a quest. But you have received a magic parasite, which will slowly leech away the kelpie mimicry and will be uncomfortable and annoying until the trait is gone, at which point it will magically disappear. Enjoy! (Also post an update whenever you decide it’s done to make the change)
