    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Hey there Krieos
    #6
12-ish extra hours was all i needed, it seems xD
and i too am rusty - it's been like, 2 years since i last battled D:

<center><table width="500px" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border: 0px solid #eeeeee"><tr><td><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="width:500px; border:1px dotted #eee; padding-top:20px;padding-left:20px; padding-right:20px;padding-bottom:20px;background-color:#FBF6D9; background-repeat:no-repeat;"><tr><td><div align="justify"><div style="width: 480px; border: 0px solid #ffffff;background-image:url('http://i.imgur.com/HcSrHPs.png'); background-repeat:repeat; padding:15px"><P></span><center><font style="font-family:geneva; font-size:25px; line-height:2px; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing:9px;"><Br>kreios</font><font style="font-family:geneva; font-size:10px; line-height:12px; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing:2px;"><Br><i>don't you tame your demons, but always keep them on a leash</i></font><div style=" text-align: justify; padding-left: 50px; padding-right: 50px; padding-bottom: 50px;"><font color=#151518 style="font-family:geneva; font-size:12px; line-height:12px; letter-spacing:px;"><P> The give of flesh beneath his hooves is not nearly as satisfying as he’d anticipated. For a brief moment there is a ripple of sable fur along his forelegs, a flash of tawny spots, and then nothing. He does not dig wildcat claws into Gryffen’s hide like he wants to – like he should be able to – but he huffs angrily and tosses his head up to shake his white mane away from his eyes as he descends from his rear. Kreios does not break the rules but the temptation to do so now is strong; it would be so easy.

The pale stallion’s reflexes are not as lightning fast as when he can truly let loose, but he has never been slow.

Both of Kreios’ hooves landed on the right side Gryffen’s rump, meaning that even with the cremello’s shying away, his hind hooves are still to Kreios’ left. Regardless, he is kicking out, and Kreios has no intention of getting kicked in the face. All four hooves have hit the ground by the time Gryffen kicks, but Kreios has already launched himself forward and to his right in that time as well, relying on his left legs to propel himself forward, and fulling intending to follow Gryffen as the smaller stallion moves away. Because of their angles, Gryffen’s left hind leg would have to spin around his body to get anywhere near Kreios’ body, but his right hoof is a different story.

It thuds against Kreios’ chest and is sliding toward his left shoulder when the percheron hybrid launches himself forward. His back hooves dig into the red clay as he lifts his forequarters forward and up, shoving himself toward Gryffen. Having leapt forward with the other stallion’s hoof still on his shoulder, Kreios can only hope that even the other stallion’s superior agility won’t be enough to let him escape. Bucking high enough to kick a rearing 18hh stallion in the jaw requires quite a bit of extension on Gryffen’s part. Ideally the cremello stallion will still have hind quarters up in the air when Kreios collides with his hindquarters for a second time. Though his chest is likely to make heavy contact with the upper part of Gryffen’s stifle, that is not his true goal.

He does intend to hit Gryffen while the stallion only two legs on the ground, but the point is to knock him off balance (should be an easy feat, given Kreios’ size) and simply stomp him into the ground with his front hooves. He longs for his sharp teeth, for the chance to sink them into his opponent’s already bruised rump. But he does not; his attacks are limited in more ways than one. He wonders, fleetingly, if Gryffen is aware that if Kreios were to lose this fight there will immediately be another, one unlimited by Gryffen’s desire for a fair and traitless battle. Kreios will fight even with the bruise on his chest, even with the blood pooling at the surface and welling out here and there from the impact and rough surface of Gryffen’s hooves scraping along the hide of his chest. It hurts, but he is sure that it hurts less than Gryffen will if he’s successfully pushed to the ground and stomped on.

Kreios is not high off the ground – perhaps six inches between his front hooves and the dirt – but an eighteen inch difference should be more than enough to accomplish what he needs to. If he can get Gryffen down (or even stumbling) a few quicks stomps and a kick or two on his next turn of attacks should be enough mangle Gryffen enough that he concedes. With this in mind he stays close, his dark eyes wary.
