    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[PQ - in progress] ask me no (quest)ions and I'll tell you no lies

Well, if this wasn’t a funny little spot! Now, Fiorina knew this would be an easier climb if she had wings to assist her but, well, she didn’t have them. That was the whole point. She had heard some rumours that there were fairies that would grant boons, which sounded pretty fantastical. Sure she came from a family of horses and monsters and had seen magic and even, with a little magical help, made a rather cute baby with another mare.

    But fairies?

    She was skeptical.

Still, she made the rather exhausting climb up - tapping her prehensile tail on rocks now and then to make a little clinking noise and seeing if there were any tasty mountain snacks hiding here and there. Once she found a snake, but Fierte had removed all desire for her to eat snakes. They were practically family now.

After a while, when she gets bored and thinks she has gone high enough, she pauses and scans the surrounding area with black eyes. With any luck, though she's not sure how this works, she'll be gliding down the mountain instead of using her four legs like a fool.

    “Hello?”

Fiorina requests a PQ to get wings BUT if successful, instead of regular wings I’d like for her to express the bone wings in her teg please!

The trek up the Mountain is never supposed to be easy. That is the point. Even those with wings are better served to walk than fly to the top of the Mountain. Things in life must be earned, and perhaps that is the lesson this mare needs to learn.

She appears, a tiny purple and white thing, floating in the air before the alien of the horse. They get weirder and weirder each year. She doesn’t bother with hello, but picks her way right into the mare’s brain, as Wysteria is prone to doing. ”You seek ease in a life not designed to be easy. There is nothing wrong with that, but challenges will simply find you in a different form.” There’s no fanfare with the magic, but Fiorina will find that her vision is gone. ”Learn to navigate the world without the ease you seek first, and come back and tell me what you have learned.”

    With that, Wysteria disappears.

You have rolled a 2 and been granted a quest. Fiorina will be blind for two RL weeks (or longer, if you want). During this time you must have 2 threads learning to navigate the world blind.

Fiorina had thought her first trip up the mountain had been a pain in the ass, but it was a breeze compared to this one. She takes things slow, shuffling and shifting her movements to avoid as many problems as possible.

Patience, even now, is not something she can find naturally. But she forces herself to pretend, inhales deep breaths through her sharp teeth when all she wants to do is lash out at the rocks until either she or the mountain dies.

She remembers how she had been sketpical that fairies had even existed and then one had taken her sight. Now she returns with a little more humility and keeps a clamp on that all-too-easy-to-rise anger. “Please.” This small, quiet plea is at least more honest than her patience. She wants her sight back, wants her wings, wants this to be over.

She’s learned that she’s both weak without her sight and still strong, that without her sight sometimes others will know more than she does. That she can have the patience to navigate the world without her sight but she would really, really, really rather not to ever again.

She doesn't appear, but lets her magic work. Purple tendrils curl around the girl's body, caressing her face, restoring her sight. Then then slip down her sides and begin to knit themselves together, not into regular wings, but into the bone wings that were already a part of her, just not yet seen.

With that the magic disappears and the girl is left whole.
