    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The days had grown shorter since he had returned from the mountain. He had secluded himself to his own hidden away corner of Tephra that had gone untouched by the chaos of war.

He had spent endless days and nights pushing himself, growing accustom to his new abilities. He could feel that his speed had increased to an unnatural quickness. He could move from one side of Tephra to the other in a matter of minutes.

Though this had came through the magic the fairy had poured into him, it was something he had to work towards. It had not been as trying as he had thought it would be because along with his new set of horns, his cloven hooves, and his bovine tail, Jakub did not tire as quickly. He could feel his heart beat slow and strong beneath his endless workouts. Even when his muscles tired, his heart pumped strong keeping them moving and awake.

Today he left his hole in the wall of Tephra. He passed by canopies of thick foliage. Though it was autum the season did not seem to squash the heat or humidity that hung in his tropic home.

He broke through the edge of his curtain, the land opening up to dead, barren ground. The smell of sulfur clung to everything that wondered in, except for the now luscious flowers that Leliana had willed into the ground.

He paused a moment on the outskirts of the once war zone, dropping his large head down to the earth. His large bull horns almost penetrating the earth as he breathed in the sweet perfume of a large hibiscus. As he peered up a flash of  green, almost camouflaged with the tropic land, caught his eye. The breeze shifted just right pulling along an unfamiliar scent.

Had he really hid away that long?

With in minutes Jakub crossed the barren land. His large, black body could no longer go unnoticed. He pulled up short of the young man, his body toward over almost everything now. Who are you? His brow furrowed and his eyes questioned. He had no intention of coming off intimidating, but he had not socialized in his new body.

    Different but similar.

    JAKUB

and out he came, holding his brothers heel
