    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

They move together through the dry lands, the small creature and her enormous golden shadow. On eight quiet feet, they traipse through the dusty desert of Pangea, and they both raise curious whiskered noses and well-furred ears at the novel scents and sounds. They have lost Wiley and Isaac somewhere in the Sylvan woods, but neither are concerned at their absence. They were tomcats, after all, and never much help in the hunt.

Together they bring down enough prey to get by, though it is clear that the smaller feline is taking the lion's share of the meals. Her thick white coat is glossy and sleek, while the golden lioness behind her is far leaner and less well-groomed. A lion's tongue is far more efficient at cleaning a housecat than the other way round, after all.

"Where are we going?" asks the younger, larger female.

"This way." replies her mother, flicking her bottle brush orange tail at Daedra's nose. Daedra sighs, having long ago become disenchanted with her mother's secrecy. Se has followed Mafdet through Hyaline, on a search for the lion who had given her three healthy cubs.

He'd been gone, his scent replaced by other males, but Mafdet had remembered the thick dark mane of her children's father and determined that no young cub could be better. Daedra, now a young adult in her own right, had been intrigued, but a quick swipe of her mother's needle claws had convinced her otherwise.

After Loess, the now they follow a trail only the little cat seems able to see. When Mafedt finally stops, it is at the edge of a rippling pool of water. It smells fresh, Daedra finds as she lowers her head, but it is warm. Disgusted, she shakes her shoulders and flops onto her side. Meanwhile, Mafdet proceeds to groom her sleek colorpoint coat, her triangular ears flicking attentively despite what otherwise looks like complete inattention to their surroundings.

@[Mafdet] has been infected by the plague for visiting Pangea.
She will show symptoms (rolled a 2).
She will not express a trait (rolled a 6).

@[Daedra] has also been infected by the plague for visiting Pangea.
She will show symptoms (rolled a 3).
She will not express a trait (rolled a 2).

@[Mafdet] idk what this is, but here youuu are.

no matter what they say, I am still the king

Pangea was quiet - not much had changed in that sense. The land was just as barren as it had been before, with just small pinpricks of life beginning to emerge - the calm before the storm, the ships wading to harbor. (How safe? How calm? How long?). That was fine with Eight - he was content to watch over the few who’s curiosity piqued enough to travel to the cursed land. AFter all, how much could he expect those to come? Any who stepped foot in Pangea would soon be laden with the heavy bones of the plague - blood from their bodies, skin peeling off, breath short in their lungs - it was the end all be all of Pangea. There was no other way out.

Only one had dared travel across the border thus far, and he had already been riddled sickly. An oozing and dastardly thing, who could barely raise his body from the ground - Vadar. Shortly after He had healed some of the man’s wounds, he disappeared. How strange, this land could be. And save for that, it was just He and Cosmos - and the plague, this ever-evolving thing that resided with them, that fed the rivers with bloated corpses, and gave the air a permanent stench of death. The plague - this thing that all of Beqanna has been living with throughout this steady trickle of time. And here, Pangea, is where it was born.

There is movement, the small sound of footsteps - though not quite equine (something softer? Something a bit more gentle?). His eyes close as he reaches inward to His magic, pulling strings at the world to pinpoint exactly where it came from. There - by the deadened pools of water. But what? Was the better question.

And so he goes, black wings caressing the sky as He careens down toward the mouth of water, and two curiosities besides it. He lands, cocking his head - cats? How strange, this land was.

“I wouldn’t drink that if I were you.” He should warn them, though Cats they may be. “There is death and decay here in Pangea. Though, you may have risked yourself just passing through.”

(now, the storm is coming in)
