    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Solace

    . . .

At six years old Solace was the mother of five and one of the longest ruling contemporary monarchs - and fee time was hard to come by. But today she slips away from her kingdom and family for the sake of duty, leaving her youngsters well fed and in the care of her brother.

Her broad cerulean wings carry her easily over the mountains and halfway across the continent to the Adoption den, where she checks to see if any lost children have found their way into the care of the faires. But the den is empty, and instead of cutting her losses, she decides it as been too long since she last visited The Field.

Gliding above the grassy expanse, the gold-splashed mare spots a stranger resting alone in the shade. Deciding a little rest and conversation are just what she needs, Solace lands a comfortable distance away. She offers a nicker of greeting as she walks in his direction, before halting a few paces away. Her winter coat still clings to the mountain mare, but she carries herself with elegance - despite the trickle of sweat rolling down her neck.

"Mind if I share your shade?" she asks with a slight tilt of her dainty head and a light smile. "I'm not used to this heat."
