    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Lucrezia remembers the cold and the darkness. However, she doesn’t quite recall the feeling of it against her multicolored skin or the way it sent a chill down her spine. It had been sometime since she had ever felt the breathe of winter on her neck and a thick coat wrapped around her body, hoping to embrace whatever winter brought that year in the Chamber. It didn’t happen that way in the sandy kingdom she now calls home. There was no cold and darkness, except only light and dry earth.

She has no idea why she is here. The meadow had once been a place of joy for her where she often came to explore and plan out her next adventure alone. It was always alone she went in the world, regardless of what she was told. Yet maybe it was the comfort of a home and family – love too perhaps – that did not make her second guess where she went and worry if she never came back. But at last she is alone again in the world regardless that she might have some “friends” and a home back in the Deserts.

    Alone, she might always be.

The peafowl marked mare moves forward, away from the shadows of the forest that border part of the meadow and into the heart of the land. She steps onto mudded earth and drags dry grass from what seems left from the summer’s heat. A soft snow blanketed the grassy land before her just early this morning. It is the first of winter but surely there is more to come and to what degree she does not know. Lucrezia keeps her peacock-wings (of brown, orange, and yellow coloring) close against her sides, wrapping herself up to keep herself warm. Her body provided little amount of warmth due to her living circumstances in the sandy kingdom, but she does not mind it that much. The cold made her feel something – alive or dead, something in between it all. She only needed to feel something in order to feel alive.

But was she even alive anymore?
