    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Warrick had briefly told her about what had happened during her absence. It had been an eye opener, and once again had Beqanna proven that it wasn’t all good and well, something the ebony woman tended to forget. Not because she closes herself off from the heartache, but simply because she cannot imagine why one would do anything even remotely evil. But to learn that politics had changed, Amorette cannot be more relieved that Tephra’s leader is still standing touch and righteous as ever.

However, they hadn’t made it through all the recent shifting unharmed. As Warrick had told her, Kwartz was not Tephran-born, but that does not mean he can be stolen without getting to Tephra. It upsets and angers her, and her motherly heart breaks for the colt that has been stolen away from his family. And sadly enough, Kwartz hadn’t been their only loss.

Krone, Ischia’s former queen, had come as refugee, together with her family. Amorette had been glad to hear that she was alright, as far as that’s possible of course, after what had recently happened. But she, too, has disappeared. And Amore does not think that she would go against Warrick’s direct orders, out of respect from one (ex-)ruler to another. That leaves only one other logical conclusion. And the same question could be asked about the disappearance of another youngster.

Amorette is glad that she isn’t the one that has to decide how to react to all these threats. No way Tephra could let this just happen, otherwise she would not be able to profile herself as a sanctuary, because what is a sanctuary that cannot keep its habitants safe? But blindly getting the kingdom locked in a war was something just as unappealing. She’d offer Warrick her counsel if he would ask, but for now her focus laid on those who were left behind in all this; the (Ischian) refugees and their families.

She has yet to meet any of them, and it is sure as well time she does. So she had left her cave underneath the volcano, one of the many, in favour of looking for the unfamiliar faces of those who had come to Tephra for sanctuary.
