The water feels nice. Standing knee deep into the water, a soft sigh is pulled from Jinju’s dark lips. She’s enjoying the slight tug of the water, and the splashes of water on her skin, all without standing too deep to get dragged away by the current. The sun shining down on her back makes today even better, with the clear blue sky as a no-rain forecast.
Like that she blocks out all thoughts other than the water that flows underneath her and the sun that warms her back. She refuses to let any memory surface, old and new ones. Going back to Taiga had triggered quite a couple to resurface, and although Jinju is glad to finally have a place to call home, the memories cast a shadow over the whole welcome home thing. How could she be carefree and happy, while distant memories confuse her.
Sometimes it are just flashes, faces for example, but sometimes she remembers certain events. Like the time when Terran grew his wings. Jinju remembers him complaining about an itch, and him asking her to check it out. A grin slowly tugs on the corners of her lips and Jinju lightly shakes her head in amusement. He’d been pretty amazed, and probably torn between freaking out and excitement.
But oh, she wasn’t supposed to think of all those things now. Now was about relaxing and enjoying the water and the sun, and nothing else. A soft sigh escapes past her dark lips and she lets her head drop a little closer towards the surface of the water. In an attempt to distract herself from her thoughts – the memories – her ears twitch and turn around, focussing on the sounds around her. Like the rush of the water, the rustling of leaves and movement of little animals in the forest.
And of a fellow equine.
Jinju
