    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Latara causiously walked into the area that I was told to come and visit. When I was in the field he said I could come and check things out. Mishka had more strength and stayed by her side better then he used to. He tried to step ahead of his mother to take the lead. His mother nickered at him to get back where it was safe. They stopped and looked around, it seemed like a good place for me to raise my son. The multi colored mother stopped under some shade because the bugs were annoying her. She looked at Mishka. You can go play but stay close by. She licked her colt before he went off. She was hungry so she started to eat as she kept an eye on her son,

Mishka trotted off smelling some new smells that he has never smelled before. He found a frog, it was a weird creature. It didn't look like him and it made a weird sound. When it jumped away it make him jump. He moved on finding some water, he was never this close to water before with out his mother. He could see himself in there, was this a friend or was this danger? He went to sniff the water when he touched the water making him snort and shake his head. He stomped his foot in the water making it splash. He started having fun with it. He could still see his mother where he was so he was fine where he was. He reared and galloped around having fun.

Latara noticed it was getting alittle late, cause the colors from the sun were changing. Mishka! yelling for her son. She went to find him, he was probably playing and didn't hear her. She nickered for him, and found him playing. She stopped and watched him she smiled she was so happy to be a mother. She softly nickered to her son so not to scare him. Mishka looked up and saw his mom. He trotted over to her and nudged her. Hi momma, guess what I saw and did to day!. They walked back to the tree. What did you see to day? She nuzzled and cleaned her son. As he nursed.

Mishka nursed he was thirsty and hungry after that day. I saw another like me, I saw them over there he pointed towards the water. I tried to touch and greet them but I got wet. His mother giggled oh that was your reflection my son. That was just you that you saw. Mishka looked at her weird. My reflection? His mother explained to him what it was. The young colt got alittle tired he started to yawn. He layed at his mothers feet until he fell asleep. His mother kept watch like always.

____There was much to the Golden Plains than first meets the eye; the rushing river that leads to the crystalline lake was a tranquil and rather therapeutic rush of water, the gentle lull of the rapids brought Lye a new feeling, sort of like the last moments of life, when you reach a certain serenity, a certain peace, then your body transcends time and you are no more. The black mare had seen it many times at The Beach, the last few moments of life, she watched almost in awe, the silent observer of those most intimate moments. She cherished them like a child would cherish the first dead butterfly they found on the earth beneath their feet, with soft hands and a coo in their voice. Lye had found the peacefulness of the Plains quite a change indeed. And she didn't have to be burdened anymore with the cloak of death, the stench of bitter last words.

____Lye had been wandering the riverbanks, picking at the tender long grasses, lost in thought. Just idling amongst the reeds, black body blending in like a shadow melting into the backdrop. She was silent, waiting, watching. Cezary was off on his wanderings (at first she had wondered, had she dreamt the only thing, him offering a home in the field, had she simply just appeared in the plains?) she accepted his leave and took to wandering the land herself. Acquainting herself with the best spots to graze, the even better spots to slumber. And slumber she did. A dreamless sleep, no terrors, no dreams. It was quaint. It was peace, at last.

____Her black head snaps up at the first sign of activity. The peace broken by laughter, by tottering hooves. She lifted her head, orange eyes looking out, they capture the sight of two, one young, spindly little colt and the other, still swollen slightly in the barrel. A newborn? She tasted the air with her tongue, they were strangers, not of Beqanna. automatically she lowered herself, then realised that perhaps she would have to do the thing that real horses do. Become an inch of the social butterfly. Well, perhaps half of half a wing...

____Lye moved over towards them, steady, slow. The run with Cezary had tired her out in more ways than one and her right hind was giving her more trouble than usual, it swayed a bit more from the hip than normal. One sided and crooked she looked, a little limp here, a drag of her hoof there. Soon enough her languid pace brought her near to them. She studied them, quiet, unmoving, her orange eyes attuned. She said nothing though. Perhaps they were new, perhaps they were mere pass-throughs. but perhaps, and this had idled in her mind for the longest, perhaps they were threats. Nyryn, she knew, would assume everything a threat, but Lye, she was neutral, and passive. tiredly she swung her head to look around for Cezary. No where, yet. She waited though, waited in silence, a good distance away from there, simply watching, simple waiting.

    Lye,

the orange eyed, immortal daughter of busted & locket, who wears her heart on her sleeve in golden plains, with, cezary

As her little son was dozing off. She had stayed awake, Her ears twitched and twisted around listening for any new scents. She got the smell of a new horse, was it the one that introduced himself to her in the field offering her a home or was it someone completely new? Her nostrils flared taking in the scent of a mare. She lifted her head trying to figure out where she was coming from. She eventually saw a black mare approaching her slowly. Her ears went back and stood between her and her son. Being cautious, she snap at her or lunge at her, but she made it clear she didnt want any strangers near her 2 week old son. She wasnt taking a chance.

She looked at the black mare. I am of no danger i was asked to come here by Cezary to join his herd. She lowered her head in respect for the other. She pointed to the ground where her son laid. This is my son Mishka he is only 2 weeks old. And i am Latara. She approached the black mare trying to seem like she was no threat to her or the herd.

She was hoping not to get kicked out cause her son seemed to like it here and it looked like a good place to live and grow up. This wouldnt be the first time she would be kicked out of a herd. She was new and no one knew who she was. But now that she had a baby that didnt belong to the king or leader of the herd. He was not always welcome, but she protected him from anyone wanting to hurt him. Please dont hurt my son he means no harm. She walked over to her son awakening him, he sleeply woke up and stumbled to his feet. So this dark mare could see he meant no harm.

____Sometime's Lye's mind is a dark and mysterious place, lots of turns and dark corners and many, many dead ends. The immortal mare had spent a long time wandering the long, dark halls and recesses of her mind and often found nothing but these blank walls, the darkness that would meet every end filled her heart with a dull ache. The black mare never thought she'd come out of them, never once thought there would be another place to call home other than the soulless beach where the dying come to take their last breath. Her dull hooves scrape the ground of her hinds as she moves uneasily a little. The soft grasses beneath her a blessing. Her halloween eyes, pumpkin orange, watch the mare and her young child, with a curiosity of a cat to a bird, watching her move, her instincts coming naturally. Lye gave a low snort, preposterous. A child, she would never harm, a child... Lye's ears drooped back and to the side, a dullness taking her orange eyes. It was her life's beginning again. A poison, an ugly stain upon society. She gave a low, hopeless nicker.

____"I... why would I hurt your child?" her voice is shallow, almost like the hasty breath she took in. Her eyes swept over the young boy and she noticed him watch her. A child. what is was like to have a gift come from within you. Lye's eyes closed momentarily, she took a long breath and thought of the run alongside Cezary (their fun still evident in her slightly weary hinds) his kind words and his promise of a home, they filled the deep emptiness inside of her, bit by bit. Ebony mane, messed and unkempt with thorns and leaves and its of grass, it fell over her eyes, concealing the orange strangeness that might have put the mare and child off. She didn't want the sorrow to ebb at her heart anymore, she didn't want to have looks of disdain or hatred. She nickered, slowly and softly. "I'm sorry if I frightened you." she did that, occasionally. she wasn't sure why, but her presence seemed to make those on their toes, skittish. Lye's front off dragged across the earth, she stepped further away then, giving the pair distance. She then craned her head, eyes sweeping over the beautiful rolling hills and plains of tall grasses, over the lake, the bending river. She kept her eyes off of the two, pleasant and cool, she tried to give a little reassuring smile. But then this was all new, talking, socialising. It got her thinking things that weren't right, it made Lye think she was not worth the time of day. But then she thought of Cezary, his kind buckskin face and she had a smile touch her lips if only for a moment.

____"Cezary should be around. He'll probably be here soon." her eyes drew back to the pair, trying desperately not to frighten the young one, she kept her forelock concealing her odd coloured eyes, her face, everything about her she tried to hide. But like a black inkblot upon paper, she stood out of the colourful beauty that was Golden Plains. She did not introduce herself. She wasn't sure if the mare even wanted to know her. She came because of Cezary's offering. He was kind, just. Like a knight in shining armour he came across Lye's broken mind and was starting to put the pieces together. She was grateful of the steed, very much so. She hoped the mare with her child would be as grateful. Kindness was a rarity these days, at least to Lye it was. Her sad eyes, years of painful memories, a lifetime of sadness, they stared out from beneath the dark curtain and watched the two. A child. who would think she would possibly harm an innocent child? The black mare harmed not even a fly. She couldn't. it was not in her nature. She harmed her self plenty of times. Falling over, scraping herself, dragging herself through hedges and thorn brushes. But to harm another? Preposterous.

    Lye,

the orange eyed, immortal daughter of busted & locket, who wears her heart on her sleeve in golden plains, with, cezary
