    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She had managed to get out from under the watchful eye of her older brother just long enough to slip from the salty edges of Nerine.

So much lay just beyond ehr young grasp, hungry silver eyes wide and devouring the lavish grasses and cold wet mud of the beaten path that carved it's way from her home. Past trees stetching tall and thing, passed lumps of mountains seemingly molded from child's clay, passed flat lanes of bore. The young painted girl greedily absorbs it all. Isobell knew it would be only a matter of time before the smoke stained coat of her dragon brother would find her.

Best to make it all worth it.

Isobell moves through the bent and broken grasses of the meadow. She is tall and leggy like the brittle shards, swaying against the cool breeze of an early autumn. Pewter eyes watch with open curiosity at the colors, sizes, and shapes of these horses. Their tongue wag ceaselessly as she catches the quips of conversation. Only in Nerine has she ever seen her father and brother shift to dragons, ruling the skies and brandishing hellfire when her mother willed it.

But here, in this placid little tuft of grassland was nothing but quiet. Eerie solitude without the rush of waves or the caw of birds. It gave the yearling a shiver up her spine. Others chose to live here? Did they not know of Nerine and her beauty? Isobell stops to chew at a few last green shoots, lifting erh small head to chew thoughtfully as she horse-watched from her small clearing.
