    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

It's always the same, I'm running towards nothing again
The autumn air draws him away from the quiet of the mountains and the solitude that shrink wraps around every creature. He is not sure why he returns but shakes off the heaviness of the thoughts so he may enjoy the feel of cold, cold air filling his lungs, savoring the way it burns when he holds it for just a moment too long. Beqanna had changed in structure but the smells, the horses...they were the same.

Heavy hooves begin to move the tall male, small feathers at his hocks waving like tiny flags as the darkness of his brow hide his green gaze. He is just a man returning to the place of his birth, to look for familiar faces. He is not sure how interested he is to learn of his families whereabouts or to cultivate new relationships with the current residents but Cam would at least attempt to try.

Small plumes curl at his nostrils, the edges of his lips, giving him the likeliness of a loudly painted dragon. Comical in his mind's eye but his sharp gaze would deter any from actually expressing this ideology. The pied creature finds a place among the blaze of autumn leaves to rest a moment, the length of his knotted tail cracking against the  last few swaths of insects that attempt to nibble at his tender parts.

She was blessed with beauty and rage. Mother Earth had given her a coat of a thousand colors - littered with large splotches and tiny dots; maroon twists and turns on her bodice that wasn't commonly seen, but that she took pride in. Eyes bright green, full of light, but hiding secrets no one could begin to find or understand; demons that she kept buried deep within her chest, allowing no one to see past her ever-happy facade. She liked it this way; it gave her purpose, to be the bringer of light, the giver of happiness. She enjoyed pleasing people, even if no one had ever done it for her.

She roams swiftly and quietly through the forest, which is bursting with the colors of late autumn. Winter would be arriving soon, and her heart felt full of dread at this thought. Although draft blood ran through her veins, she loathed winter - it was so dark, so barren; all the life was sucked from the earth, leaving a cold wasteland. Her summer coat had already shed and been replaced with a thick layer of fur - so the chilled breeze that brushed her sides did not bother her.

She finds a familiar spot - one she had rested in before making a life for herself in Loess. A small thicket of trees, just big enough for her. Leaves floated down, leaving a small pile for her to lay in - something she does not do often, but that is enjoyable in short doses. Her legs curl under her, and she flops into the accumulation with a huff. She decides that she would stay a while, and just observe the scenery.
