    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Sreva could be a hoof full at times, but it was clear today that Chemdog had enough excitement for the both of them. The two horses, after leaving Neoma at the river when Chemdog introduced himself to her, departed and headed off towards the Forest, following the breeze as they went. Chemdog was behind Sreva for the most part, but on occasion, the stallion would buck and skirt ahead of the mare, throwing his head up in joy before returning to Sreva's side.

The mare felt the stallion's lips against the joint of her hip, leaving a slight tingly sensation. Hiding her blush, the mare kicked up her own hind legs and sprinted ahead of him a couple of strides, enticing him to play.

This display carried on for some time until Chemdog suggested that they move away from the river and into the mainland more. Even though Sreva hadn't come this far along the river's banks, she knew what part of Beqanna this was. The Taiga kingdom supposedly wasn't far from here, the imposing redwoods stretching toward the sky enough that even from this distance Sreva could make out the outlines of the forest that lines its borders.

Chemdog, at one point, asked Sreva to wait there before disappearing into the shadows. For a moment, Sreva wondered would could have distracted him. Based on his goodbye, she didn't figure anything put the stallion on guard; he'd be much more edgy if that was the case. So, until he returned, Sreva busied herself with having a good roll and munching on the grass, satisfying the hunger that had been gnawing at her belly earlier.

A short time had passed when Chemdog returned. Sreva lifted her head, a gentle smile appearing on her lips. Lips that were currently the subject of Chemdog's affection, surprising the mare. Never before had he done something like this, even if he was a pretty touchy stallion. He continued to be overly touchy (not that she found herself minding) before giving the excuse of 'You distract me'.

Sreva just rolled her eyes at him before Chemdog asked her to follow and to see the large imposing trees with her own eyes. Willingly, she followed after him, finding herself eager to see them up close. As they walked on into the forest, through the trees, the footing changed from hardened earth and grass to the moss and needles that apparently this kingdom was known for, if Field gossip was anything to go by.

But Sreva wasn't concerned with that, the smell of pines filling her nostrils, or the slightly foggy air. Instead, part way on their journey, Sreva just found herself looking up. The mare could not believe she was seeing these trees up close for herself, and boy were they a sight. Sreva stared at the base of the trunk of one tree for a moment before her eyes traveled upward, her head tilting back so far to try and spot the top that she was almost afraid her neck would snap.

Though Chemdog might have been expecting a more excited or enthusiastic reaction, the only word that could come out of Sreva's mouth was a very impressed, "Whoa..." as she continued staring at the tops of the tall, very beautiful redwoods.

@[Chemdog] It's all right, I don't mind the waiting one bit.
