    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Here's To A Second Chance

Well, that last attempt at a home hadn't turned out so well. Then again, when had things gone right lately for the young stallion? Following his attempt at seeking a place to call home in Taiga, Aten had set off to find another place. Taiga hadn't exactly yielded... expected results. And Aten did not wish to return to his homeland of what he now knew was called Sylva just yet, despite wishing to see his dam and older sister Eiria again. There was no point in seeking out Nerius or Sirana; from his knowledge, neither of them had returned to Sylva either, and he had yet to hear any news about two horses that matched their unique coat colors.

As the young stallion continued his journey to the Tephra, he took note of how the air started to get warmer with each step closer. While it wasn't an unbearable heat, it was something else entirely from what Aten had experienced before. Hopefully the winters weren't that warm here, or, if he found a home here, he'd have to leave in order to survive since his winter coat grew rather thick all thanks to his sire's side of the family.

The steam was a bit much, but not enough to hinder Aten's eyesight. He turned his head to take in the surrounding land before him. Green grasses stretched out for miles in front of him, no doubt kept in good condition thanks to the steam. A large mountain reached for the sky a few miles out in the distance, a mountain that Aten recalled was a 'volcano', some horse had told him. The young stallion had heard of the forces of nature that existed in this land, but had never seen it himself. He would hold out hope that the volcano wouldn't erupt during his time here. If small streams of lava flowed out on occasion, not a big deal, for they could be outrun. But an erupting volcano, that was one huge reason not to stay.

Giving the land a chance, Aten stopped once he hit the border. Remembering what his dam taught him all those moons ago about approaching a kingdom for solace, Aten reared up and whinnied, calling out to the residents of the kingdom to see if one would come to greet him and listen to why he was here.
