    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[Open] Look to the Stars and you Shall Remember Me...

Left behind were the fields of the Meadow, the trees of the Forest and the volcanic sulfur filled air of Tephra.  She seeked a new destination today.  Her time spent in Sylva next to the black stallion who smelled of sea salt inspired her to travel to the farthest lands.  The lands for which he came and for whatever reason were no longer his home.  She did not go for an offer of a homeland but maybe more as a duty to her own.  Not many in Tephra possessed the ability to travel so far so effortlessly...

Steele and ebony form morphed within the border of the coastline kingdom just base of the ridgeline.  The great moutains towered to her back.  The vast landscape before her being much more open.  Sea licked breeze welcomed her as she waited a more formal invite.  She was sure her scent would soon find the residents here.  They would in turn determine if she was truly welcomed.  Her crown held high as the breeze whipped her ebony tassels about.  Lids closed as she thought back to the day in Tephra alongside Magnus and his beaches.  A smile painted brilliantly across her ebony features...

She spun the stars on her fingernails
Nayl is ever-observant, ever vigilant as she roams the borders of Nerine. In reality, there is only Pangea that neighbors them. Often, Nayl stares toward the blue haze that swirls to the east of the dunes, but she never ventures further than when the emptiness licks her legs. There is an eerie whispering – odd noises – that originate from the fog. What lies beyond, she always wonders but never investigates. While it crosses her mind, even now, she veers away and casually strolls to the south and southwest.

That’s where her nostrils flutter with the intake of a pseudo-familiar scent. The volcano is distinct in how its idle smoke clings to the coats of those in Tephra. Grabbing her attention, Nayl takes pause to observe the solitary figure groping for Nerine’s developing boarders. A hesitation is a futile hope that Magnus has taken up her offer, but alas, it is only a mare. A glance sideways allows her a glimpse deeper into her home where the cliff stands sentinel above the tides. Lopsidedly smiling, Nayl admires the scene before rinsing herself of the adoration to instead bear a more stoic expression with hardened eyes.

”Hello,” her voice is level, but not unkind as she reminds herself of the hospitality offered when she visited Tephra. Both Lucrezia and Magnus grinned and answered all questions she had. Although it isn’t them that are here, but a stranger, she still heeds her manners as she steps forward and stops in front of the mare. ”I’m Nayl, and who are you?” She has never been eloquent or spoken with a tongue of silk. Brash and impulsive, direct and militaristic. Nayl knows no other way and never attempts to bend her ways. Rolling her shoulders, she takes another drink of air to remember her brief time peering up at the titanic volcano. ”How is Tephra?” She asks with a nonchalant sweep of her tail.

It hadn't taken long before a resident smelled the sulphur upon her coat.  It was a scent you got used to but others could smell miles off.  So she didn't lurk within the shadows anymore.  It did no good.  Plus she had no reason to.

The other approached swiftly and she dipped her crown in greeting.  She was formal in every way.  Dark pools held a soft gaze as the mare spoke her name.  And of course her reasoning for intruding.  She spoke as softly as her gaze,

I am Neon.  'Tis a pleasure to meet ye, Nayl.  Her pools danced about the lands that bordered the great waters.  These lands are quite peaceful.  The waters constant contact on the shores dulled any racket outside their conversation.  Looking back upon the mare before her, a saddness in her eyes soul that one may dismiss but not her... Loneliness perhaps.  Her smile did it's best to hide it.  She smiled genuinely at the mare as her conversation led to Tephra.  The unmistakable smell upon her giving it away.  A slight nodd accompanied her words,

It is well in Tephra.  The lands each faired in there own ways.  She held no interest in the lands as a whole necessarily.  But more the inhabitants before her.  She paused slightly then picked her words carefully, How are thee, Nayl?  Deep pools sought the truth in the lines of her features.  Would she pass the question over with a Fine... A lie.  Or would honest truth surface? She assumed the easier of the two.  Since at this point she was just an intruder to her.  But maybe more... Someday...
