    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The trip is long, and hardy for those who come to walk on foot. For there was little land, but more ocean to cover and without the aid of wings it had grown almost impossible to fair safe passage through the narrow sand bars. Clari couldn't help but share a few glances at Eri along the way, mainly just to check on the little blue girl, and to make sure she was still keeping up. As the water began to deepen, Clari grew more concerned, would Eri make it? Or would she be swimming at this point? But her concerns broke away, as the island of Ischia broke away from the horizon, they were close. And even if Clari had to haul the little blue girl onto shore, she'd sure enough do it.

Finally reaching shore, with soaked inky black limbs. The ebony maiden, glances down at Eri who is almost completely soaked except for her bright blue head, and clark can't help but chuckle. "How was your swim?" She joked. Thankfully the girl did know how to swim, otherwise Clari would off been pushing her rump through the water the whole way. And then she herself would be soaked half as bad as Eri. Thank god that wasn't the situation.

"Well, Come on."  She smiled. Striding forwards up the white sanded slope of the island's shore, and not the gorgeous tropical paradise of ischia. The brightly colored parrots play about overhead with no care in the world. For they were the only creatures that held residence in Ischia, other than the equine of course.

Clari kept her focus on Eri, She made a promise to the little girl after all. Might as well keep it? Knowing there was little effort to be made in Ischia to search for her mother. At least Eri was safe from that sick man Etojo.

The journey is long, longer than any she’s had to take in her short life, and by the time they cross the narrow sand bars, Eri is thoroughly sodden, and almost asleep on her feet.

When they finally reach the pale sandy shore, Eri drags herself up on to the beach, and sinks into the sand with a sigh. At any other time she might take a moment to appreciate the isolated beauty of the place, but for now she’s just happy to have her feet back on dry land. Clarisse looks down at her, chuckling. Eri imagines she must look a bit silly. “I’m wet.” Of course, the older mare looks rather wet as well.

The mare urges her onward and Eri forces herself up onto shaky legs with a groan. She’s never been so incredibly tired in her entire life. But as she steps forward, her thoughts can’t help but drift back to her mother. She knows, deep down, that she couldn't have stayed in the den forever. But how on earth will she find her mother now? How will her mother find her?

She pauses, foot in midair, as a yawn erupts across her face. Her eyelids droop, and she takes a staggering step towards Clarisse. “Tiiiiiired.” She hopes they don’t have too much farther to go - she is desperate for a nap.
