    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Fuckin’ faeries.

The violet mare rages internally as she pokes her head around another thick oak tree. She’d known, she’d known! She’d known ever since that day she’d tumbled into that multicoloured stream, and come out a violet ‘confection,’ that Beqanna’s faeries were not to be trusted.

Makaria had scorned her then, before she’d left. Had called her paranoid, distrusting …

Unfortunately, being proven right still leaves a bitter taste in her mouth. Makaria is still gone after all. She hasn’t seen her sister in decades. She could be dead for all she knows.

But that’s not what’s bothering her now. She’s long made her peace, well, as best she could, with Makaria’s absence from her life.

It’s all of this. All this change. It’s too much.

First, the land. She’s lived in Beqanna her entire life, spending her days travelling its lesser known territories and hidden places, raising all of her seven children to the wandering life. She’d loved the land, had known it as well as she’d known her own self … and now it’s gone. This new place is so odd and foreign, and so full of faerie magic that it makes her skin crawl.

Second, her abilities. She’d been born with her horn, her wings and her immortality. They’d been the one thing left to her when her mother had abandoned her and Makaria in the den. The one thing that had allowed her to first, protect her little sister, and later, to protect her Amazon sisters. To have them suddenly be ripped away?

The begrudging re-gift of her immortality has done nothing to ease the sting of that betrayal.

And, after all of that, what’s left for her? Her hidden quiet places are gone, everything that had been familiar to her is gone. For now she’s resorted to wandering aimlessly through the thick forest - it at least reminds her of the old Beqanna - but she knows she cannot stay here forever. Something will have to change. And soon.

Blargh I'm not a fan of this post, but considering it's been so long since I last posted her, I'll take it. Smile
