    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Familiar Faces -[Any]

    A Gentle Flutter

Oh how familiar this place was, Mura finds herself in the forest once again. Still a loner, she has made a few friends in her travels but no one has tried to recruit her yet. Perhaps she has not ran into the right equines; but alas she does not mind being lone.

It was autumn, a beautiful time of the year, her icy blue pelt stood out against the yellow and orange leaves. The ground was fading from a beautiful grassy green to a muddy brown. She looks around and could not see another, she laughed to herself her Pegasus wings disappeared and blue dragon wings now sat atop her back. She flapped them gently stretching them out, the scaly wings were always her favorite.

Her head snaps to the right as she hears a sound, she quickly shook her body and the dragon wings disappeared and her feathery Pegasus wings were back. She breathed a sigh of relief, just a squirrel wrestling with the leaves. phew she muttered to herself, most equines run in fear of her dragons wings, they really aren't that scary, are they?

It is hard to miss the icey pale form against the browns, yellows, oranges and reds from the autumn forest. The color reminds Amorette of the pale blue morning sky, on a near cloudless day. Like all oddities, this one attracts too. With her curiosity sparked the ebony woman makes her way over towards the unfamiliar face.

The autumn that holds the forest in its grasp is a nice change from Tephra’s everlasting summer. Not that she minds the heat – in fact, she felt 100% at home in Tephra – but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy the other season. The endless summer probably made her appreciate autumn, winter and spring more than before. She has made a the trip from Tephra to the forest for no other reason than enjoying the autumn, because she, too, needs a break from time to time.

”Hello” she greets the mare upon stepping into clear view. Though a part of the forest’s leaves covers the ground, there is still plenty of vegetation to restrict one’s view. It’s only now that Amore notices the pair of Pegasus wings that complement the mare, simply stunning, and compared to the mare Amorette is as plain as they come.

Mura gently nuzzles her wings, she smirks and begins to concentrate, she thinks of the beautiful butterfly wings that she sees every spring and summer, how nice it would be to sport those around. Alas she was almost there when the sound of another echoed through her ears. Her eyes popped open and an ebony mare appeared in her view, her heart is pounding and she quickly turns to look at her wings. She lets out a burst of air as her wings remain Pegasus, she calmly turns her head to look back at the mare.

what did she say? she thinks to herself, quickly trying to remember, she shrugs and hopes it was just a greeting. Hello, scared me there a dry chuckle escapes her lips, trying to play off any oddity she may have illuminated. This young mare smelled like a pack, she belonged to one of those lands. She steps closer, inhaling her scent, Mura was unfamiliar with all the lands, but she has picked up on the scents as others travel through Beqanna. The scent this mare carries is unfamiliar to Mura, she could not remember what land she belonged to.

what is your name? she demands as she eyes over the young mare, she has never been one to give out her name first.

Though the forest’s vegetation would perhaps partially hide her from view, it wouldn’t be enough to hide her approach completely. Or, that was how Amorette had pictured it. She hadn’t realised that the leaves on the ground had muffled the sound of her steps. ”Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t meant to startle you.” She offers her apology with a small smile, glad that the pale blue mare doesn’t seem to hold it against her.

Curious her dark eyes follow the moves of the pale woman when she steps closer. Amore does not move away, easily accepting the presence of another into her personal space. As to finish the physical greeting she extends her neck and offers the icy girl her nose, an offer to exchange scents.

After pulling back the ebony woman is about to introduce herself, to start of a little chitchat. She hadn’t approached with a clear vision in mind, but the demand for her name isn’t any of the options she had thought of. The directness baffles her a little, enough to make her lift her head rather sharply and meet blue eyes with her own dark ones. Amorette pauses, eyeing the blue mare over, before eventually answering. ”I’m Amorette.” Because that is who she is.

”Who are you?” she asks in return, as is her good right, but her voice is still gentle. Dark ears alter between pointing forward and moving around, the forest around them was still very much alive and Amore doesn’t want to get surprised like she had surprised the unknown stranger in front of her.

The mare apologized for startling Mura, she looked oddly at her. An apology? that surely is not something she has encountered living a loner life. Perhaps she was worth a conversation after all, besides she did not seem to notice anything on with Mura.

She did not mind when Mura stepped near, perhaps even invading her personal space, in fact this mare extended her nose to Mura, certainly an interesting mare. They shared scents and Mura scanned over the details of the ebony mare before backed up allowing the mare to have her personal space once more. Finally, the silence is broken, the ebony mare introduces herself as Amorette. Mura repeats the name in her head a few times, engraving it to memory. Of course Amorette follows up with the same question, Who are you?

A few moments go by before Mura exhales a gentle breath My name is Mura, it is nice to meet you she figures she should use some manners to make up for her oddity earlier. You carry the scent of a land, what land is it? Mura asks, as curious as ever. The mare smells almost like ash, something she has not smelled since Beqanna had its uproar and changed its scenery.

Amorette has always been too friendly, too trusting. She does not mind others near her, in fact, she enjoys their presence. Especially after some time spend in solitude, like had been the case a little oo often lately. And it is not as if Mura is disrespecting it.

During the brief moment they had treaded into one another’s personal space she had taken the chance to sniff out the pale blue mare in return. Many scents cling to her own, and yet, none distinctive like it. Nor does Amorette smell other equine, which might explain why she had startled Mura. Perhaps also the lack of manners, though the young blue mare is soon to overcome them. It puts a smile on Amore’s lips, and a light drop of her head as she nods. ”It’s nice to meet you too, Mura. Are you new to tread into Beqanna, or returning?” she asks, not to pry but out of genuine interest.

The mention of her home, though indirect, makes her smile even grow wider. ”You can smell the ash on me?” she asks with a half grin, half smile. She had never bothered or felt ashamed for the ashes that dust her coat from time to time, the volcano was a big part of her life and Amorette loved every moment spend near it. ”I live in Tephra, north from here. She has a small volcano, large springs and green glowing hills. The tropical greenery is quite an amazing sight too. And it is pleasantly warm all year round.” Every time she speaks of Tephra, she cannot help it but to become somewhat enthusiastic at least. She simply loves her home.

But it is Mura’s own curiosity that makes her offer; ”Would you like to see it?” Amorette would take much joy in showing the pale blue mare around, and having even a small chance only to have someone else fall in love with Teprha too was a very nice prospect too.

The two stand apart now, no longer too close for comfort, but the smell of the ebony mare still lingers in her nostrils. A strong scent, she cannot pinpoint the familiar scent, which grows her curiosity even more of the young midnight black mare. Amorette dips her head which confused Mura as she had never had that happen, was this a common decency? Mura dips her pale blue head in return, her white forelock falls to the right as she dips. As she returns her head to its natural stature the ebony mare asks if she is new to the lands.

She took a breath to respond, deciding how much she wanted to share with the new mare. I have lived here my whole life she kept it short and to the point, no need to indulge all her little details in the first conversation, leave em wanting more. The mare perked up one Mura addressed her scent, it was rather odd actually. Was she proud of the stench she carried? Did she even know what she smelled like?

Tephra Amorette states, Mura has never seen any of the Kingdoms for herself, although she has heard many whispers throughout her time in Beqanna. Amorette continues on to describe the land, a volcano, which explains the stench she carries. Oddly enough the burnt land has a tropical scenery to it as well? This is something that Mura has to see herself to believe. And just in that moment Amorette asked if Mura wanted to see it, in the flesh itself. She looked warily at the stranger, her heart began to beat fast once more, she has always lived alone. What would life in a Kingdom be like? would she like it? Would the others like her? She always stood out from the others, unable to hide with her rare color, unlike the ebony mare who easily could slip into hiding once the sun rests for the night.

She thought no more, it was time to change her lifestyle, she was growing tired of the lonely life Yes, I would love to see this Tephra, as you call it

Okay, that must have hit a sensitive subject. For a moment Amorette’s dark eyes take in the pale blue mare, but she nods her head after, accepting the short answer she had been given. Mura didn’t smell from Beqanna, but perhaps that was simply because she had been in many different places, not settling anywhere long enough for it to stick to her scent. And Mura clearly thought it wasn’t Amore’s business at all.

During the time she speaks, Mura listens closely. The lack of words coming from the other mare only encourages Amorette to continue on, simply to avoid the silence to stretch between them. And she loved talking of Tephra.

Once the invitation stands, she meets Mura’s gaze without hesitation. She does hope that Mura will accept it, but the wary looks she retrieves in return make her almost give up on hope. Though Warrick had said to be proud of her, and Wound’s accomplishments, Amorette has yet to really bring newcomers to Tephra. And it was a sore spot she would really like to change. If Mura would only want to stay.

The smile that tugs on the corners of her lips shows how Mura’s acceptance of the offer enjoys her. ”Visitors are always welcome in Tephra, for as long as one would want to stay. I can show you around if you’d like?”

But even though it is a question, the ebony mare finds herself turning north before Mura has even answered. Energic enthusiasm makes her willing to start the tour right away, the twinkle showing in her eyes when she bends her neck to look back at Mura as she gestures into the direction of Tephra. ”We could go now, if that’s okay?”

The ebony mare offered her home to Mura, they could visit, she could stay as long as she liked. Do all kingdoms take strangers in like a stray cat? This only hooked her curiosity, she surely had to see this kingdom for herself now. A volcano that welcomed all members, was this whole conversation a test? Did Mura pass it? I will check it out she muttered, no promises she would stay, but what is the worse that could happen from visiting.

Mura barely had time to finish, when her sentence was completed and she looked back up the Ebony mare was already on the move. It was cute that she was so excited to show off her home, the icy blue mare moved towards Amorette, she matched the pace of her guide. Yes, lead the way she said, forcing her voice to sound friendlier, forcing a smile even though she was afraid. She wanted to run the other way, but perhaps this would be a good thing.
