    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    god make me pay,
    like the devil i am
He doesn’t have a home, not in the typical sense of the word. No, his home is where the water takes him, whether its through its coursing rivers or its tempestuous seas, or even stagnant lakes with unmoving currents. That is where he belongs.

The river of Beqanna is where he is most likely to be found, wading in its depths beneath the hood of an eerie mist, practicing and perfecting his skillset. It is where he feels most comfortable; here he is strong, confident, and sure. He had even begun to try to coax the water from the roots of nearby plants and vegetation, but the process is long and tiring. It would take time to perfect, but if he could easily entice the water from the world around him, he would never feel weak or vulnerable ever again.

He finds himself here, after hours of painstakingly slow progress, at the river’s bank. He prefers the rougher parts of the river, where large rocks splice up from the rapid-like current, spraying everything around him with a fine mist. The sound of the river is loud and boisterous, a consistent rush of water crashing through the sharp twists and turns. He lowers his nose to the water, nostrils flaring hungrily as he inhales the familiar scent, the soft crooning from the voices below calling him back into their depths, much like a mermaid calling a sailor into her arms.

A hunger gleams in his eyes, a hunger that has still gone unquenched, unsatisfied. It lingers within the abyss of his darkened eyes, forever sparking beneath the blackness. Forever a predator, constantly ravenous for power and control, to succumb his prey beneath a watery grave. Small forest animals and birds only left him so much satisfaction; he craves a challenge, he craves a struggle. In his thoughts, he has let the tip of his muzzle become as clear and wavering as the water that surges beneath him, liquefying himself right past his nostrils. He is tired, worn out, but he could easily become part of the river and wait upstream where the waters are calmer and gentler, and wait for a passerby.

Something catches his attention within the darkening woods behind him, lifting his head quickly with a sharp snort and flicker of his ears onto his neck. He says nothing, but scours the darkness with a snarl on his pale lips.

    THANA.
    (as black as your soul)
She is one with the shadows – isolated, still, with shallow breath and a steady, beating heart. Shrouded by the darkness draped over her, her breathing has become shallow and rhythmic, while her heartbeat steadily churns within the tight confinement of her chest. She is lithe and petite, and it permits her to become one with the dim outline of the thicket – little else but a slender, shapely silhouette can be seen against the inky obscurity of dense foliage.

And quietly, her gleaming two-toned gaze – one a dismal, dreary gray, and one a deep, endless abyss of black -  is settled upon the restless motion of the ravenous river, while her mind is elsewhere, filtering through the plethora of memories flooding the expanse of her essence. She had spent many hours, many days perfecting her skill, and with finesse and a prowess all her own, she could effortlessly tear a tall and towering oak and its long, pliable roots from the hardened clay and silt of the earth, with nary a sweat broken over her cobalt and obsidian skin. No organic material could be kept from her greedy clutches, torn, tossed and thrown from whence they came –

She has been watching him, for some time. Quietly, stealthily - she is one with the darkness, slow and unblinking. She is close enough to him to sense the disturbance in his aura; he is tense. The tension only thickens after his eyes meet with hers, his muzzle solidifying once more - but not before she has seen the way it so easily became one with the reckless current.

Slowly, a wry smile tugs at the corner of her mouth, baring the gleaming set of perfectly aligned teeth beneath - as he bares his own, snarling all the while.

At last, she is drawn away from the shade – she is a feminine silhouette of cobalt and obsidian, built slender with sinewy muscle enveloping hard and fortified bone. A sharp and callous burst of laughter emerges from the confinement of her throat as she searches the hardened plane of his face, so angry, so intense, but the questionable coloration of his skin stirs an amused smile to the surface, though it never reaches her dark and sinister gaze.

”Aw, so sorry - did I interrupt your self-serving sulking?”

Permission granted to do anything you'd like to her, sans death, obviously.
    Let's make this interesting. >:) @[Maugrim]

She is one with the shadows like he is one with the river, it is as natural as they can possibly be, intertwined within the ravenous and hungry mouth of darkness and of raging water.

He has attracted her – a first for the young stallion. Normally, it is the other way around.
The scowl still plainly curls on the pale pearlescent color of his lips, eyes darkening beneath a hooded brow as she steps closer. He does not move, does not say a word, as she strides so confidently and fluidly towards him, her mottled coat brightening as she steps out from the musty darkness of the tall trees behind her. He allows her to come closer, to glide before him with ease. Her laugh – somehow lyrical and unnerving all in one breath – only receives a sharp snort in response from him.

He watches her, curious as always. She smiles but it is empty, merely a response that is robotic and rehearsed, just like her laugh had been. Her eyes, empty and soulless and unfeeling, trace him hungrily as if he is the one to be devoured.

    No, no, silly girl.

Her voice, sultry and lilting as it erupts from her throat, makes his lips curl in distaste, as if bile had risen from his stomach. No sooner had her statement finished was there is a ring of water around her neck, having been spun from the river before them, in a blink of an eye. It clasps tightly behind her jaw and presses forcefully into her trachea. The snarl is no longer on his face and is now replaced with a blank stare, the only sign of emotion being the soft and inevitable twitch of his upper lip.

    “Quiet.”

His voice is strangely still and precise, but grating and rough against the sound of what had just been her own.

He did not know who she was, he did not care. He cannot stop staring into her bottomless mismatched eyes, dark and roving and mad beneath his grip. His teeth clench, the muscle in his jaw jumping wildly beneath the dark evergreen and lavender of his skin.

He wanted to gouge out her eyes just so their abysmal depths would no longer stare into his own.
