    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Great things come in Small packages | Baylen, any, maybe Alayaya?

They must look like a couple of oddballs, walking together through brush and snow. A very tiny mare and a burro. Oh, but Smidgen is so excited to have made a new friend! And she's never been one to worry over appearances. The day is growing colder as they travel into the wood of the Forest, small snowflakes beginning to fall once more to add to the blanket it creates on the world around them. Thankfully, the trees are large and close together here, so once they make it further in, it is notably warmer and less snowy. Winter is really her least favorite season; bringing the cold and the snow and the mud. Ugh, and the fuzz! Smidgen, being the tiny one, and being a bit chunky, looks like just a big ol fuzzball when her winter coat grows fully in. She is grateful for its warmth, of course, it's just that there's so much of it and come spring, is so hard to shed off! Takes a long time. Oh well, though! For now her coat and the constant motion is keeping her from shivering, and this is a good thing.

She looks over at her companion with a friendly smile. "I'm glad you're coming with me, Baylen. Can't wait to show you around." As always her voice is feminine and soft, carrying a musical quality. Her blue eyes search his face from under her silvery white forelock, wanting to know more about him, but unsure how to ask without seeming too nosy. She glances around then, scanning through the trees and brush. There are horses here and there, but not yet a sign of a small palomino filly. She hums softly before saying again, more thinking aloud. "I hope Seirath finds Alayaya soon. Poor guy seemed so worried." She wonders if the girl even realizes he is searching, and fretting over her. Wonders again where all they should search themselves. "How cool would it be if we found her?" She says this with more enthusiasm, her face beaming as she looks to the donkey flanking her again. "If we could be the ones to reunite them?" She giggles lightly, excited by the concept. Bounding forward, she leads the way through the trees, knowing these woods like the back of her.. well, hoof. Her eyes keep scanning, for even the slightest hint of the pale gold that was described to them.

''What if she doesn't want to come with us?''Baylen asked, somewhat concerned. He couldn't guess whether or not Seirath would be more upset if she was found, but wouldn't return, or if she was never found at all. Baylen's eyes traced the dirt path they took, watching the snow crumple, and get pushed around.
He had no idea what he was doing. He should have waited before starting a possibly doomed quest.

She looks up at her donkey-friend, a slight frown as she wonders at his question. It takes her a moment, but then her smile returns. "Well, of course the first step is finding her. Once we do that, we can take it from there! Sounds like she's been gone a while. Can you imagine everything she's seen?" Her eyes catch the light peeking through the trees above, giving the blue of them a little sparkle. She's always loved exploring, letting her mind wander. Smidgen has come quite far all on her little own, so one can understand why she is not overly worried about the girl. Lots of friends to make and places to see. Shelter to hide to keep safe if need be. She is already painting a picture of this child in her mind, even as she walks and scans through the trees ahead. Pretty young thing, adventurous and brave! She can't wait to meet her. And she couldn't wait to show Baylen her home, and introduce him to her little forest family she'd been welcomed into. "We're not too far, y'know. From the Taiga. Just a bit further this way." Smile in place, she sets into a prance, eyes seeking all the while for a little palomino filly they might be so lucky to run into.

((Sorry for the wait!! Life got crazy x.x))
