Assailant -- Year 226
"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Jinju The pine tree forest was her home and she has been roaming it for as long as she remembers. She might not poses the magic her mother had, to change her form into one of a wolf, but her dad had learned her the way of the wolf. Jinju had not yet became a master herself, but she was well on her way to. If she wanted, she could move her tall and well build body around in silence.
Like a predator she was aware of presence of one that didn’t belong in the Taiga. She approached him from the side, straight into the wind so her own scent wouldn’t be blown in his direction. It gave her the opportunity to observe him, before stepping out to greet him. Normally visitors would respect the border, or at least call out and make his or her presence known. This stranger did not. And it also didn’t look like he was going to. ”Hello. Normally I would welcome a new face to the Taiga, but since you already find yourself into our lands, that would be a bit silly to say” she greets him, ruby eyes on his spotted form as she steps out of her hiding place. He’s tall, so is she, but he clearly is older. She’s a bit hesitant, not sure how to deal with such a situation, so after her perhaps a bit too snarky greeting, Jinju now offers him a smile. ”But since you’re here, what has brought you to my home? Can I help you with something?”

Jinju She had been right to keep some distance, to approach him hesitant and sceptical. He very much didn’t react like any visitor had any done. If they had come out of curiosity or because of business, they had always been kind and polite. Not that the appaloosa stallion had really done an unkind act, the wolves had learned her to be careful. His presence didn’t predict any good.
Nobody was ever truly alone in the Taiga. Though thus far nothing had happened that pushed Jinju to sound the alarm. He doesn’t answer, not right away, not until his lips are almost touching her ear. Her first reaction was to stumble backwards, but it is her pride that stops her. Ears that have turned back by then, as she held her head high. ”You’re playing with fire.” Silence, in which little fire sparks dance across her skin. ”Are you ready to get burned?” her words perhaps a bit harsher than her intention had been, but it wasn’t like she had to be kind to a stranger that had wandered into their home unwelcomed. Jinju narrows her ruby eyes, puffing out her chest a little pressing forward a little in an attempt to have him move backwards. ”And I cannot say I’m flattered by your bold approach” she adds after a while. Not that it looked like he would care about that. He didn’t scare her. Not while she was in her own home. Not as she held quite a bit of anger and frustration bottled up inside. The heat already burned inside her, a bit too eager to get out.

Aten, at first, as the other stallion had probably planned, did not hear his arrival. The golden stallion was still getting used to being here in the Taiga, even though Jinju had made his time here enjoyable. The filly's company was welcome, and she was a good friend. Aten was glad he had met her upon first arriving here in the Taiga. He was also grateful she'd stayed with him when they'd met her father, the appaloosa stallion had been quite intimidating to the younger one. Of course, who wouldn't be intimidated by a kingdom leader?
Aten was calmly grazing among some of the other horses in the Taiga, his watchful eye keeping an eye on some of them as well. Though he was not yet a herd leader, and still didn't feel completely accepted here yet, he still felt the need to watch over the other horses. He already came to feel like they were friends, acquaintances he cared for and had the growing need to protect them as they had given him a home here. So, when the wind shifted ever so slightly and the watchful stallion picked up the scent of someone new, his attention was drawn. His sculpted head went up, long mane falling over the left side of his neck as he looked around. His eyes were at first drawn to a foal, scampering among the grasses apart from it's dam's side. Aten didn't think much of that, until his eyes went up just a bit further. He could see him; the stallion, a tall, imposing black beast who was also watching the foal Aten had spotted. The golden stallion started stepping away from the grazing horses, his eyes narrowing in caution as he watched to see what the stallion might do. Aten, his protective ways, might have charged the other, but considering he was just standing there, he'd give the other a chance to leave, consider his other options before doing anything foolish. Then, something happened that made every nerve in his body tense up. Jinju suddenly appeared from the trees, walking up and appearing to converse with the new stallion. Aten grew worried for his friend, but knew he couldn't be overprotective of her. She had ways to take care of herself, ways that Aten was not born with unless counting the features of teeth and hooves. Still, deciding he wanted to be there for his friend, Aten started trotting over to the two horses. He, like Jinju, unknown to him, felt disrespected at the fact the stallion had so blatantly crossed the border without any indication of his arrival. He would not openly show his displeasure, unless the stallion gave reason for it. Aten knew when to not start something he couldn't finish. As he got closer, he noticed that he could probably finish a fight, given he was taller than the black stallion, but that didn't mean he should start anything. The black stallion leaned in, stepping close to Jinju and saying something Aten couldn't hear. But seeing him that close to Jinju, without her permission, infuriated the stallion. He picked up his pace and cantered toward the two, letting out an enraged neigh as he got closer. Once he was upon the stallion and filly, Aten slid to a stop. He reared up and lashed out with his front hooves to get the stallion to back up, the tense muscles in his shoulders flexing out as he kicked. Getting back on the ground, shaking his head and stomping his front hoof, Aten snorted at the stallion, "Surely a creature such as yourself knows to respect the personal space of others? Jinju speaks well; your behavior is rude, and you'd do well to back and leave the kingdom. You do not seem to come here with offerings of peace, so I suggest you return from where you came."

Heda It hasn't been herself lately. Provoking outrage in the field, shaming her own name, and most of all blaming her father. All because her mother left, and he, her father couldn't handle betrayal of all things. If anything he betrayed their family, Jinju, Terra, and Fur, and most of all he betrayed her. He had promised her a family, a family that would remain together, forever, and he broke it. So our girl, our sunlight and twilight Heda finds herself avoiding the one and only being she loved. The person that raised her, that saved her, and indefinitely broke her trust, her father. From above, she avoids him, the wind gently playing at her navy tinged feathers, as her hazel gaze scanned the thick forests of Tagia. Emotions of many being expelled from her homeland's residents, joy, excitement, and most of all love, a mutual love. But as she soars above the depths of the redwood forest, the forest her and her sister used to play in as foals. She meets quite a few unpleasant feelings, they were mixed, and incredibly strong, and definitely not the nicest of emotions. Her hazel gaze lingers upon the canopy, perplexed by this strange outbreak of emotions. Her wings, guiding her downward, as she glided upon the wind. Nostrils flaring, as she reached the soft lush terra, intaking the scents, searching for the emotions whom these belonged to. And to her surprise, she catches her sister's musk, along with two strangers. One of whom, looked familiar, perhaps a local Taigian? How peculiar. Her navy pistons drive her onwards towards them, the emotions growing stronger and stronger as she neared. Until she finally met two pairs of crimson eyes, and another fellow lingering within the forest. Her gaze falls upon all of them, and she can tell tempers are beginning to rise, and soon enough will be fired. She can't have that. Tagia is a land of peace, although it had been corrupted during her father's ill good choices it was still a haven to those who needed it. Her wings folding at her sides, elegantly, Heda allows her sweet words to be emitted from her velvet lips, "Mind if I play?" her words are innocent in the least. but after a brief moment, she whips out her emotion, fear. Clensing the crimson eyed male's emotions, until he's a blank slate, and emotionless body. Her gaze falls upon her sister for a moment, before refocusing upon the stranger, and with immense force she forces fear upon him, it's relentless, and unruly, and incredibly intense. "Perhaps you should run?" She suggests, a gentle chuckle expelling from her. Go ahead. Laugh at the girl who loved too easily Ex-Queen of Loess

This stallion was playing a dangerous game. It was true, Aten was getting a very bad vibe from the black horse in front of him, but he was beating it down in order to remain strong so that, if the need arose, he could help protect Jinju or assist her in chasing the stallion out of her sire's territory. Either way, it was taking a lot of Aten's internal strength too, since there were some nerves telling him he should turn tail and run.
When the black stallion urged Aten to run, or risk playing a game, the golden stallion stood tall. He stomped the ground with his front hoof again, his slightly taller frame bearing down on the black stallion as he took a threatening step closer. Aten's ears went flat against his skull as he snorted, his tail flicking back and forth to express the agitation and building anger he felt. "I have no interest in playing any sort of game with you. And if you are wise, I suggest that you leave before you make the forest, and its residents, angry." As soon as those words left his lips, another voice joined in the fray. A glance back and Aten spotted the slightly familiar form of Heda, another Taiga mare. He didn't know her very well, since he was still new here and had yet to get to know any of the kingdom residents well. However, with introductions that had been made by horses for themselves and others, he'd begun placing names to faces. And Heda was easy enough to place, with her buckskin coat and blue points as opposed to the black Aten had seen on others of similar color. Her wings were folded in and she expressed a layer of calm, but the stallion could tell that she was toying with the black stallion, trying to mess with his emotions in an effort to make him leave. Aten still didn't quite know how she did it, or what sort of talent she possessed, but he knew he shouldn't mess with her.

Jinju Oh yes, she had always been her parents’ little girl. One of them was a magician that had learned her how to wield her fire and the other had taught her the way of the wolf. However, she is inexperienced, and even though she wouldn’t like to admit it, it wavers her slightly that he does not back off. Jinju’s ruby eye take his in, slightly narrowed as she struggles. ”Do you?” she asks after a pause. ”It can sting.” Jinju doesn’t give him time to heed her warning, forcing the flames in between their bodies. Her ears are pressed against her skull as she bares her teeth and pushes forward to take a nip out of his shoulder.
He retracts, though she isn’t sure if it was because of her assault. His motivation could very well be something entirely else. It is not far enough, or that is what she tries to express. This stranger had walked into her home, their forest, and thought he would be free to play a game on his terms? No. She would not stand in for that. Even if a small part was curious to see how the play would continue. So Jinju allows him to walk around her, for now, her neck slightly bend to follow his movements closely. Her tail flicks through the air the moment he’s still behind her, her ruby eye on his almost as if she was telling him ‘is this all you got?’ The words have her grimacing. ”My fire has got nothing to do with this” she answers, avoiding the true question that lied hidden in his words. And perhaps that was for the better too. Their game was no longer between the two of them. She no longer was a filly. Yes, she had been a girl when she had first met Aten, an even though she had yet to become a woman, Jinju surely wasn’t a girl anymore. On top of that she could look out for herself perfectly fine. Clearly Aten thought differently, as he barged onto the stranger. Who didn’t seem to be impressed by the champagne stallion at all. She watched them silently, with mild interest, following the stranger’s red gaze to Aten to see how he would react. Heda came next. They all stood tense, ready to strike, but somehow her sister’s arrival relaxed her a bit. Even in this strange situation she offers the gold and navy blue mare a smile. ”He’s all yours” she answers, stepping back to create distance between her and the appaloosa. Jinju settles at Heda’s side, her muzzle brushing across the buckskin’s shoulder. Though her eyes are back on the stranger. It’s not hard to see the change, Heda’s power working on him. All she can do is wait for how he will react, to see if he would really run, or if he would miraculously break free from the spell Heda put him under. If he could, he would probably be the first. |
