    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Merida is positively livid. The young mare marches through the trees, breaking branches and foliage as she storms through the forest. She’s just coming from leaving her mother at the border to the territory … leaving her there to head off to her new home in Volcanic Village.

“Ugh!” Merida bumps into a tree, hard, and stops, breathing heavily. She can’t believe this is happening. They’d been minding their own business, living happy, quiet lives here in Cobblestone Creek, when this … this … ‘Chemdog’ just had to come along and ruin everything.

Not that she can blame it all on him of course … he’s not the one that had lost the battle after all …

“What use is a herd stallion if he can’t protect us?!” She mutters under her breath, before casting a quick glance through the trees to make sure that no one else is nearby to hear. She still has to live here - she doesn’t want to create any undue tension. And Archam at least means well, even if he is clearly useless.

She’s relieved when she can detect no one, and sighs heavily. It’s just not fair. They’d been happy here, her and mom and now Andras and Francois. But now her mother is gone, and … she’s suddenly the eldest of their little family unit. She’s not ready for the responsibility.

Grumbling again, she steps back into a walk, heading deeper into the territory. She wants to find a private, quiet spot to sit out her anger before someone manages to find her. Unfortunately in a territory and herd of this size, someone is likely to run across her sooner or later. She just hopes that it’s later.

(OOC: Sorry I never got that foal thread going fast enough ... perhaps some of the other kids can find her now and calm her down?)

As free as the wind and the birds that soar in it

It was a rare sight to see Loken in the herd lands, he never did enjoy being around this enviroment. To many horses, foals that all shared the same father. He was almost two, at which point he would decide what Kingdom to join and leave the Cobblestone forever. He had a good relationship with his father when he was young, due to his mother abandoning him, but it quickly faded when Loken had different views on herd life. Loken should have taken over the herd lands when his father passed on, but he was skipped to the next colt as he had no desires.

As Loken was about to leave he saw the black and red mare he grew up with, Merida, returning. She seemed rather annoyed and even began to talk out loud to herself. It was rude to eavesdrop but he did it with good intentions, and after listening he grew sympathetic for her. He heard of a rivaling stallion who challenged Archam for Morigan, the other stallion was successful and she recently left for the new herd; leaving Merida and two other foals behind. Merida was clearly upset with Archam, unable to protect Morigan from the steal.

He gave a huff, leaving and pretending he never heard a thing would be easier but he felt a kinship with the red mare he grew up with. He trotted over towards her, following her until she stopped Hello Merida he spoke in a soft tone I heard you talking over there He looked off to a trail at there left. I'm sorry to hear about your mother, I'm sure Archam will fight to get her back he wasn't sure exactly what to say, he didn't know his fathers plans for her return. Although he did know the pain of losing your mother, he never understood why his mother would abandon him, at least Merida knew where Morigan was.

Sirana, unknown to Merida, was also quite mad at the bay roan stallion that ran the Cobblestone Creek territory. However, it was for a whole different reason. She'd recently found out that her sire had given her away to a stallion who ran a nearby kingdom herd in order to create an alliance between them. The fact that he was so willing to send her off, without even consulting her, and take her away from her dam, little sister, and new on-the-way little sibling, made her very mad at him.

So, today, Sirana had taken Eiria out on a trek, deciding she wanted to spend some time with her little sister before she had to leave the territory, and her family, forever. The two had a pretty good day so far, heading out through to explore the Cobblestone. Eiria hadn't seen everything yet, and Sirana had found a lot of neat places in her sire's territory. She thought Eiria would like to see them. So far, it had been paying off. The young weanling was quite excited to see everything, and that made Sirana happy. She wanted Eiria to be happy, to prepare herself for what would come in six months' time.

The two sisters were heading through the trees, Sirana pointing some things out to her little sister. Eiria, as usual, was excited, her ears perked to attention, body tense with anticipation for what was to come next. Sirana's plan for the rest of the day was to take Eiria to the Cobblestone's central territory grove, where she'd found a secret place hidden in a batch of trees. She prepared herself to tell Eiria, but stopped when she heard the sound of two voices nearby.

There was a gap of silence in between, telling her that the two owners had not spoken at the same time. One she didn't know, but the other she recognized instantly. It was Loken, the red roan colt that Anahi had taken in after Loken's dam had abandoned him.

"Come on Eiria, let's go see what's up," Sirana said, nudging her little sister to follow before cantering toward the voices. When she came to a stop, hidden among the trees, she could see Loken standing there with a black filly with a red mane and tail. Now that she could see the owner of the first voice, she knew who it was.

"Merida..." Sirana whispered. The amber champagne yearling stepped out of her hiding place, fixing both her brother and the other filly with a questioning stare.

"Hey guys. What's going on here?" she asked.
