PHAEDRUS He was wandering again, looking to check on his mares, he hadn't seen head nor tail of them for quite some time. He was begining to worry that they had all dissapeared. He wouldn't be a bit suprised if that was the case. with everything that had happened the last two years, with his life going gall hay wire he couldln't blame them in the least.
Wading into the swollen belly of water he hangs his head with a sigh, his wings drooping into the crisp dampness. His mane floating shimmering with the reflective rays of the sun. Glammered the lighit shines bright into his eyes. The water sweet and moist trickling down his throat. He missed this little oasis missed the company of his females. He was growing rather found of them. With several new additions, and the ones that had started this whole journey of his. Growing his confidence, developing him into the social little butterfly.
He can't help but wonder if he would eventually be able to take comfort in their company rather then simply miss the comfort when it was gone. He needed to stop stressing over the details, of what he was going to say, what move would send them running.
When they saw him again would they recognize him? His whole side riddled with scarred puntures like that of a waffle. His mane finally grown back full and touching his chest with its length. His black coat thickeningwith the turning of the seasons. He calls out hoping that someone would hear him. That he hadn't been completely abandoned here.
His friendly bobcat came sitting on the bank cleaning herself, her tassles giving her away everytime. Tired of chasing mice Sheba? He snorts at her, their little tiff finally having been solved, though neither would formally apologize they both knew that they had moved on quite easily. This is the last sunny day of the season, I think that I will enjoy it, and just bask in the warmth. He chuckles watching as she bounds up a nearby willow her tail hanging from the branch flicking lazily watching him as he stepped to the banks shaking out his coat.

How long had it been since Vianne had taken up residence within this sanctuary? Two years? So many moons and suns had passed over the little Arabian unicorn. With time she too had passed through certain transgressions on her own, marking a little piece of territory within her Alpha's and ensuring her own survival. The brain lesions had been long healed and so were the seizures by a healer that had traveled through and found her on the cusp of death. Vianne had molded into a fierce female, warding and fighting other threats and stallions off with the long horn which now sat proudly on top of her head. With the pale contrast of her porcelain skin, her mouth looked full and sensual as though one kiss from her lips would stir the lingering memory of sweetly smelling roses. Her body was irresistibly slender and thin, but like a velvet glove smoothed over an iron hand, there remained yet another deception: the smoldering intensity of her provocative eyes always courting a sense of weariness, the lusty prowess in which her hips sashayed, driving the stake of fear into the hearts of mortal men and seducing the eyes of gods with each dancing step. Oh, and how in even her most vulnerable times when she was alone to fend for herself, would she stretch luxuriously, bring the taut poise into a rich proposal of strength, of controlled power - a beautiful dagger, wrapped in svelte velvet, and yet, not any less sharp for all the jewels it possessed on it's manicured hilt.
Vianne had always believed that there was going to be a time that she would have to face a new stallion and perhaps challenge him like she had so many who dared to trespass upon her little safe coven. Her little carved out piece of land was tucked far from the reaches of the other mares that now cowed this place, finding no common interests with neither of them, it was her submissiveness to Phaedrus which tethered this mare to these lands, so much that she had kept her chastity and her faithfulness to the large dark Stallion. Even though he abandoned her so long ago, there was a bleak of hope that he would soon remember the once little broken mare with a broken horn and a broken spirit. Her features distorted as her ears became alert with the sounds of something large approaching her. Standing by the stream Vianne stomped and bucked forward into the water with her long horn seething through the air with sheer defining athleticism. The water from her stomping splashed a melancholic temperament up her stilt like legs, causing the whiteness of color to dull a shade lower. It was breeding season and Vianne understood what this meant. Being in heat Vianne felt a surge of fire in the wells of her essence, a need to become something more than just his humbled servant, with wishful dreams of romanticism even if it was with Phaedrus's ghost, the poor mare chased them. There was always a longing hope that he'd return to her. In her own rights she was quite a matriarch, a second to his growing herd and she was ready to keep her place, even fight for it.
It wasn't until she recognized his voice, the familiar smell that came from him; had she became still and centered in the crust of her little stream. Waiting for him as if she was nothing more than a his humbled servant. Even her head lowered with her ears pinned softly back against her skull as she took a tender step forward towards him and into deeper water. At first she thought this was nothing more than her mind playing wild assumptions and tricks. Her voice mewed out his name a little cautiously as her heart tamed, blood felt over-warming as if from one look from him, burned her cheeks gasping red while her knees buckled in glee at his sight. The long horn seemed perfectly chiseled from an blazing star, shimmering against the warm sun. Poor thing had suffered through trials of loneliness, doubt, and through her own illness, but like any diamond, one had to be molded out of coal and fire. She hoped that his return was going to be a permanent one now. So tired of this unquenchable lust for life and for affection. Looking at the bob cat Vianne snorted with distress through her nose as she pawed at the water with a sharp cunning hoof to test its presence and its temperament. It wouldn't be the first time the mare had endeavors with such creatures. She laid no trust in creatures that had sharp teeth and sharper claws. Interested in it's whereabouts she kept a keen eye on its location. Whens he felt safe to take another step forward she lowered her head even further down towards the war- riddled warrior.
" Is that really you?" She asked in a strained voice mixed in with desperateness.
PHAEDRUS He can hear some rustling nearby. Turning back towards the bank a scent fills his nostrils, like a sprig of lavender he reaches out to take in the delicous aroma deep into his lungs. The female scent lures him forward, until he can see the silver toned mare. his eyes take her in, innitial shock stunning him. He can't move, can barely think. This wasn't the mare that he had left, but the scent told him differently. Vianne? His tongue thick with suprise the word catches in his throat barely making it out at all.
The first movement he makes is a flutter of wings then a step forward breaking the water. Fur floating in the surface splayed out from the feathering just above his hoof. He lowers his head slightly, nervous that she would lash out at him. Not that she didn't have every right to do so. Yes its me He is quiet, his voice low and gentle. Tender with regret. He shouldn't have left them for so long. He needed to be more vigulant about caring for their emotions just as he cared for their physical needs. For a dark moment he chastizes himself, he had abondoned them all together. Not even a simple good bye. He couldn't claim to be a protector at all.
His features set in firm resolution. I hope that you fared well while I was away. You certainly look like it. noting the changes that had occured to her he still awed over her new found strength. A new found respect for her developing. He couldn't bring hismelf to promise that it would never happen again. If he were to do that and one day have to go on a mission for the kingdom. It could very well turn out that he would not be able to return for a while. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself for breaking a word. Not now not ever.
She bows and flicks her ears back, he shifts taking a step into the dancing waters until it tickles his belly. Reaching out to her he nibbles at her mane gently carressing her until he nudges her head up his chocolate eyes full of what could be considered remorseful hope. Maybe she could forgive him? He wanted to show his mares the care that he felt for them. Pleasure was something that wasn't meant to be denied to them, but to himself he did not feel that he could successfully raise his own child. Until the day came that he would feel comfortable doing so, well who said a little fun on the side was never allowed?
Of course he would wait until a mare felt comfortable enough to take advantage of his more animalist urges. But why it was assumed that he did not enjoy such basic needs he couldn't fathom. All he knew was that children dirrectly were not something that would be considered in his near future. He was after all just begining to develope the relationships that he had with his mares. He couldn't pick one over another, couldn't tell them that they were just friends either. No for himself he felt like he had a small family within these borders. Each choosing their own way of life, and banding together in times of destress, and other times just to bond over a waning sun.
His entranced moment ends and he shakes his head wondering where the hell those thoughts had come into play, maybe the season was strangely strong. Or was it simply that their were several females here frisky with the need to be maternal? He offers a cheesy smile. I think we have a lot to catch up on. He tenderly bumps the horn, attempting to show her that he had infact noticed.

(This post was last modified: 04-22-2016, 06:57 PM by Vianne.)
Vianne was apparently stressed at the sight of him as the tension between them engulfed their presence, it rimmed on every twitching nerve causing her flank to twitch in irritation as her molten silver hues studied the large dark figure she had once been familiar with. Still she wasn't certain if she could allow herself to become vulnerable once more just to be dissapointed in the long run. Too much time had certainly passed since she was left to her own whims and plights and now here he was wanting for reconciliation with her? Vianne lowered her eyes to the water that streamed through her long agile legs, always contemplating on running from this place of desolation. Perhaps she should have, instead of chasing ghosts and faulty hopes. Vianne didn't wish to rid of this delicious terrain that she now called her home. The loneliness was just a minor touch to the bliss spilling of a heavenly paradise. The six year old mare was now in her prime, looking for more than what was ever offered to her. A part of her resented his return. A part of her wanted to bitch slap him and spit in his face for leaving her in such a way, even if his leaving was what spurred such a independent growth in her center. It was as if she was seeing a ghost and she had t silently remind herself that the brain spasms she once had and it's thoughts had long dissipated. That this was in fact him. Not even a mummer passed through her lips as he reached towards her, just to show her the same affections she had longed for.
The way he called for her name allotted her right ear to twitch up ever so slightly with curiosity. Grown from the irascible young mare who could not comprehend the depths of her own wounds; festering and aching through madness of childish confusion. However, there is some of that free spiritness that was lingering within her...somewhere. Locked away tightly in her chasm. Her muscles coiled as her horn begun crackling; surging electricity with the zest of sweltering abysmal need. Small droplets of water started to rise from the surface of the stream they were in, in evanescent beads. Finally her voice emitted her confusion " I fared well? Is this what you call this? Faring well..." Her voice trailed off when she felt him nipping at her pale white neck. Where as the other mares seemed to band together, it was Vianne that remained on the crust of things, to watch them with a certain level of disconnection. There was no concern for their welfare and she continued on like a wafting phantom.
As Phaedrus lifted her gaze to meet his, she studied him with apprehension, trying her hardest to lose all of her inhibitions long enough to find comfort in what he was doing. Viannes stern facial expressions started to melt away into a softened demeanor " Two years Phaedrus..it's been two years. Every day I wondered if i should have just left. If I had done something that had wronged you in some way to make you leave. " And it sometimes became too much, the unceasing spite for that missing figure in her life and the poor replacements that only highlighted the vacant spot for a momentary bliss. The worrying over what was to happen seemed inconsolable where not even a touch could soothe her tears and her fear. Sure, she could stride into what was once her solitary confinement cell without so much as a flicker of her eyes, but it will take time to wash away the sadness. Desperate for solace, for answers, for clean air, she had sought comfort within the asylum of his presence now. Even if the memories continued to bump into each other within her mind, it was his bump to her long horn was the very thing that shocked her out of her own lucid day dream. The stallions awkward smile did not go unnoticed and had been reciprocated by a slight flicker at the corner of her own lips " Then shall we? Lets ..Catch up. We have a lot to discuss" Carefully in reluctance she reflected his nuzzling with her own against the flat of his cheek in adoration.
He had a lot of explaining to do. And this was the moment she had been waiting for; whether or not if she were to remain in the folds of this herd.
PHAEDRUS He worried over her. Wondering what exactly it was that was going through her mind. She seemed to be overwhelmed by his presence, and even his attempt at comfort seemed to put her off.
Even as he knew that she had every right to be angry with him it still stung. His head pulls away respecting her emotions, and not desiring to confuse her more. I meant physically. You seem to physically be in a better state. he didn't add that he was also considering that since he had been gone that coming back he hadn't found her dead, or worse... raped by another lesser stag. No scars, no other scents, and no foals marred her. She was herself, no broken horn, no longer freaking out at every sound or smell that onslaughted her. Hell she had even accepted the cat by not running off at the very sight of her.
If he didn't know better, that seemed like faring well. As well as could be expected, but he understood her retort and bit his lip head dipping slightly watching as droplets of water rise from the crystal coolness swirling around them. Wow, thats a pretty awesome trick. He tries to ease her slightly. When he sees her ears still pinned he sighs caving into the dominant needs of nature. Lifting her head he takes a minute to gaze into her eyes.
Waters curling flow over rocks and past their legs, slipping down through the land a light chime in its flow announcing its presence around them. He could see her hurt and aprehension of trusting him. Then she opens her mouth and sounds come out, his gaze wavers ever so slightly, guilt reaching to him. He recedes deeper running from the uncertainty. Looking down on the two bodies he notices that his wings are slightly limp, that his head is no longer held high and proud. The words echo in his head, no not his, in the black horses head, he just happens to be able to hear it. Its hollow, and numb vacant in this dark corner of the cold world. Looking at these two interact.
Machanicly the black maw opens I know, its a long story. A grim line pressing his lips together cealing them shut. Its not him there, he is sure of it. He is sure that its not his heart that is beating, that his ribs do not feel that hollow. He is sure that its not his tail being tugged at by the stream.
Then she softens her expression he snaps back to reality, like a rubber band his eyes light with relief. And his muscles move closer to her in appretiation for her small chance that she has given him. Well to start, he lifts his wing to reveal the scars Abashed to actually have to point them out he is shocked when she reaches out to touch him. Heat surges inside of himself and he doesn't bother continuing for the moment to wrapped up in her touch. Taking in a deep breath he lets it out slowly closing his eyes. Nibbling at her cheek begining to lick and bite at her coat cleaning it affectionately as often horses had a habbit of doing.
Vianne never gave her own welfare a second thought, and maybe if he had expressed concern over her well being she too would have realized how dangerous her own predicament was when he had left this land so long ago. The strange mare was once a skittish creature as if she had been on a constant psychic attack, that had paralyzed her with fear. Usually caught trembling and shaking nor was she able move, and her breathing was shallow and uneven at the slightest little movement. It was so difficult to break away from her old habits without the guidance of others to rely on. Even ashamed at times for being who she was. She forced herself to grow away from the shadows that she was so accustomed to, and struggle with her inner indecisiveness. The sun had yet to break through the hillside horizon telling Vianne that it was still pretty early. Never mind it though she was satisfied with the idea of leaning against the much larger male that gave her her lean body a shady tan, just waiting. Waiting for the time to come along when she knew it was right to start talking to him regarding the things that were on her own mind. The air she inhaled through her nose had a smell to it due to the change of seasons. She dared him to do something funny. No. She really did. It was when he gazed into her eyes that her resentment towards him had left , replaced by a silver beacon of tenderness. Even her facial expressions softened quite a bit, yet it was the beads of water that started to flicker in mid air when she heard him commend her ability to water manipulate " Thank you" with her voice bashfully soft " it's nothing...really"
There was a tilt to her head as she leaned down to investigate his marred sides, taking into consideration and noting every little niche that remained un-hidden by his thickening coat " what happened" asking in confusion and a level of concern. Both of her ears were now half way up as her head flinched back. She felt the warmth radiating from his essence, noticing the way his muscles rippled to decrease what little space was left between them now. Was this a trickery of the light? The deception of nymphs who preyed with folly on their hearts just before the hours of dark? What sort of spell was this to weave its gently malicious way into the hollow contours of her skeptical heart? For a moment she was lethargic, weaved into the way he nibbled on her so much that Vianne had almost forgotten all that she wanted to tell him. To ask him something that could change both of their lives. The mare wasn't looking for sentiments. Wasn't looking for companionship. No... Vianne was looking for something more meaningful than a little ponies fantastical dreams about romance and love. She was looking for her freedom. The speckled mare had waited this long for his permission and now she was wondering if it was the right choice. How would she know if she didn't take that chance? Pulling away regretfully her head lowered with uncertainty " Phaedrus" before dawning her eyes apologetically up to him as the soft baritones of her voice mulled " I need to ask you something... I need your permission. Please. Let me go. Let me leave your herd. I don;t belong here" Trying to explain was difficult enough for her, and she tried to reason this by convincing herself that her and Phaedrus barely knew one another besides fleeting moments of affection. Would he allow her to leave?
