    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Laced in vulnerability, she was forced to remain in the Golden plains territory, shaking her head in blighted annoyance, she often found herself using her stamina and untapped energy to run from one direction to the next with a few bounds and wild leaps off the ground. A kick here and there with wild tossing of head that caused the light tresses of her mane to flounder about her face. When ever the young mare could, she would pursue some sense of familiarity in traveling even if it was in a trapped distance, it was in her nature, her blood to discover. Vianne had seen every rock and cranny since her arrival, every blade of grass had not gone unnoticed making her search for something unbeknownst to her yet. Only stopping when she contemplated on running for her freedom. It was a tempting idea, one that she knew that couldn't be executed . Where would she go? And what about the Alpha males warnings about the raping and murders happening? His cautions is what kept her chained here.

The sounds of her jumping hooves thundered aggressively against the soft grounds, not realizing nor caring if someone may be watching her antics from a distance. Quickly she flailed and writhed in a series of movements, limber legs thrashing with sharpened hooves stomping about as she continued her strange ritualistic dance. Vianne missed her old way of life, her aunts, the desert so much that it was causing her heart to ache with distress. Everything here was so foreign to the broken horned unicorn, the way the trees moved with the slightest brush of wind, how the birds sang even at night. Even the way the water tasted seemed too surreal for Vianne that it was sometimes difficult for her to not feel overwhelmed and out of place, though she kept her own opinions and thoughts of the matter to herself. It was safer this way, to be introverted.

Following the fringe of the forest, Jupiter trudged on, snorting columns of his breath into the crisp winter air. His eyes were trained on a big bluff ahead but his pace remained steady despite his anticipation for what may lie on the other side. As the distance between him and the hill decreased his eyelids drooped and his legs seemed to gradually turn leaden. Hopefully there was somewhere safe for him to sleep ahead so he could recuperate from the hours of travelling.

Finally he mounted the bluff. An ocean of golden, rippling grass stretched miles and miles in every direction except for east, where the forest was. The colt blew out a long sigh and made his way down to the plain. A tiny gray speck in the distance caught his eye so he stopped and squinted to see it better. It appeared to be a horse jumping around. He snorted, perplexed by its erratic movements. Jupiter felt himself being tugged by curiosity towards the horse but his exhausted body begged to rest. Finally his foal-like nature shone through and he started walking towards the strange horse.

Her silhouette dances in the encroaching dusk, among the floating dandelions and soft flurries of snow flakes tenderly nurturing kissing her pale skin. At the moment she seemed lost in a dancing trance until she felt something linger in the distance that caused an abrupt pause. She didn't catch the tiny form approaching her with careful consideration. Breaths bounced her small ribcage in distressed pants while her eyes darted over the stretch of grass and the crests of colorful birds weaving in and out of the blades of wild flowers, watching the paradise with a sense of impatience.

Silent for all but the brush of the trees and the sigh of wind, only the small cries of timid birds gave sign of life through the woven field. Though the suspicion to their fright took her interest, watching them flutter from the trees in fits of disgruntled malice while they hovered and crooned, dove through the lush brown-green tapestry to come up for air again - That's when she saw the form from across the vast desolate stretch. In stirred interest she rolled her back in timid twitches, took to a few paces forward while the hairs along her spine ruffled and rose, nose low while she took a darting pace back and forth in a playful encouraging manner to invite the stranger.

Her mischevious but welcoming dance caught his attention and lured him towards her. His black-rimmed ears were shoved forward and his dark brown eyes stayed fixed on the graceful, petite body of this ballerina.

Suddenly he broke out of the trance and joined in the dance, arching his neck in a playful manner. Unfortunately he had two left feet though, so as he pranced forward he clumsily tripped over his own hooves, catching himself before nosediving into the dirt.

"Good evening ma'am," he greeted the older horse, the change of adolescence causing his increasingly husky voice to crack. He could feel the friskiness that was triggered by the cool air in his bones, causing him to shift his feet as he stood and snort when the fat snowflakes landed on his nose. Gradually this new energy seemed to turn his stiff legs limber and fade the aching in his big hooves.

It mattered not whether someone joined in her little fiasco. Vianne was tired of being drawn into solidarity, left alone to her own whims and thoughts. Having someone to run and Dance with could be a welcoming change even if it was for just a brief moment. When Jupiter joined her, her own steps became one with his. In an strange unison her strange movements matched his own as if she was nothing more than just a simple reflection. Even his clumsiness was met with a little nudge of encouragement to continue on.

Finally the Arabian unicorn paused to huff the small snow flake from the colts nose " hello. Are you from these lands? I don't remember ever seeing you" her voice was full of curiosity, driven by the idea that maybe it wasn't as dangerous to be alone out there as Phaedrus once explained to the tiny mare, binding her into a sense of submission and vulnerability to him and this lonely land.   It began to snow and the soft icy flakes fell down in a sifting downpour. It was raining white and lonely, just like the sullen figures that stood starkly against the color of freshly fallen snow. For a moment , she allowed her gaze to roam over the contours of the creature's face " My name is Vianne. What is yours?"
