    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

He does not understand how he got here, or why, but he knows he is alone, he knows that he has no mother or father, and despite the fact he has no words to know what they are, he knows he is lacking them. The spindle-legged foal is content to lay in the warm grass, for it warms his tiny body as his mother should, and he looks around blearily as he takes in the world for the first time. This area seems rather empty, but it doesn't scare him; there is a sense of peace that flows through him, and he is unafraid of this world he doesn't understand. He is filled with the curiosity of a child, as he should, and he wants to explore, but he is unused to this body after being so carefully carried in the womb.

His first steps are not seen by anyone but he doesn't realize he should care, for he is too focused on getting long legs underneath him in a cohesive way. He stumbles and falls more than he walks, but after a few moments he is starting to get the hang of this 'movement' thing and is starting to explore, legs still shaky but the newborn colt is determined in his efforts to move around. His large eyes take everything in with a bright wonder, little tail flicking around, ears flicking all around as he takes in all the new sounds, nostrils flaring as he takes in all the new smells. He is adventurous, curious - maybe too much so for a newborn, but who is he to know, he doesn't have someone to guide him - and oh-so malleable.
