Even temporarily, the Indifference was a welcome balm. Yan realized he shouldn’t be so greedy for it, but when the waves of neutrality washed over his skin and sank into his innermost thoughts, the stallion eased into the emotion like a tired traveler sinking into a warm bed. The concern over the twins faded as well - a side effect of the dosage - but they remained a focus point; that much Yan could manage to keep hold of. Everything else? No longer important.
“Not your fault.” Yanhua replied evenly, unphased by the fact that Amarine had never used her wings. He’d guessed as much anyways. Perhaps she was feeling worthless or helpless because of that, but there wasn’t anything for them to do about it now. They didn’t have the time to practice or try it out, and Amarine said as much to her equally quiet mate.
“Then we turn back. We couldn’t have gone so far that the scent’s been washed away by now. No rain yet, just the cold.” He ticked off the facts. They couldn’t go up, they couldn’t keep going forward… only one way to go then. “We’ll make our way back and head for the common lands. From there I’m pretty sure we can make it to the playground.” He suggested, neither confident nor hopeful. Their chances were good as long as they kept moving, before Ama’s Indifference wore off.
At least they hadn’t hit the River. Then it might’ve actually been a problem.
Yan shifted; his knee ached but he couldn’t care less. He knew only this: his children were waiting for him and Amarine expected him to do something, and in Yan’s opinion there wasn’t anything left to be said.
“Are you ready?” Was all he needed to know.
