    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She’s been here before but never as one of the strays. Usually she would be plodding behind her mother, a determined look on the black and white healer’s face while she searches for various things; little Let always at her hip and rather bored. Let’s mother was done about a year ago and sent her daughter on ‘her own path’. Let did not cry or plead, because she is Kota’s kin she reacts the same way to harshness or heartbreak; with silence and grit. She knew it was coming and some part of her was relieved when her mother finally said it – but neither were anticipating the land’s rebellion, or the sickness spreading across. Let had become stranded while she wandered, she had avoided the field in hopes she would stumble upon something interesting in her solitude…maybe even a home or something to belong to. No such luck, though.

So almost in desperation, but she would never admit so, she has washed up here in the emerald groves of the Field. She is a stray today, and she is clearly uncomfortable with it. She does not graze or poke around, but stands beneath a next copse of aspens, alert. The mare’s ears are pressed upright, head up, and her tail slightly raised between anxious slashes.

She’s never liked this place or what it stands for, but she indeed needs somewhere to go.
