    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

WATCH THE FLAMES CLIMB HIGH INTO THE NIGHT

Although her daughter stumbled, Scorch was there to catch her, feeling her heart tear in response to how mangled Vi was as she crawled out of the ocean. But despite the sickness she felt at the hand of her daughter's suffering, so too did she feel relief at the simple fact of her life. Vi lived - as she always did upon the resurfacing of one of her children, Scorch said silent prayers of thanks to the gods, over and over and over again.

Mother... The blind mare's words made Scorch's heart stop; and the ones that followed did little to help. Where is my Reshi?

She pressed her nose to Vi's jaw, lifting her head and murmuring the answer. Although she could not see her eyes light up, she felt some of her daughter's life return to her sodden body. "It's not far to the center of the kingdom," came her murmured words. "Come; I'll support you."

The going was slow, but Scorch was patient; she couldn't expect her newly blind daughter to instantly learn the ground of a land she'd never been to, and so, she didn't. Instead, she supported the blue mare and talked her through difficult obstacles, pausing whenever a breath was needed, and coaxing her when she seemed to lose hope. But before the sun had set, they found themselves in a warm and friendly thicket, soft grass underhoof and a canopy overhead to prevent the wind from getting to them.

"We're here," She said. "You can lie down if you need; I'll call for her now." And, with her muzzle lifted, she quietly did; hoping that her elusive granddaughter would show up, if not for her, then at least for her mother.

@[Reshi] @[Vi] figured I'd move it over here to make sense for Reshi to find them!
