    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Glim is used to the unusual.

Her entire existence has been fostered in the unusual since her mother could mutate her flesh into any animal under the sun including dragons. Even her older (half - but Glim doesn’t deal in halves, blood is blood after all) brother could manifest a plethora of diseases that could kill as quick as he could heal them. She could fashion army out of sheer darkness if she wished it but settled for a shapeshifting shadow-friend instead.

No there was nothing usual about her family except for the brother’s often gone twin and her own father. They could claim no extraordinariness about them but were no less loved because of that. Perhaps being so lacking made them extraordinary in their own right. Family dynamics were strange but fascinating or would have been if Glim had given them greater thought.

Basically the point was that Glim is unusual and comes from an unusual existence that leads her to perform unusual feats of the everyday kind. If a young foal barely weaned should not be traipsing through the forest unaccompanied, then she is the one to do it. That probably just makes her contrary more than anything else since she isn’t really all that unusual at first glance. Then again Glim is just Glim.

and Glim is snapping back to the moment with a peck to her spotty skin from Dim’s beak. Pay attention, he chides gently. I am, she spits back with a tiny stomp of a hoof. It is the mention of wandering that has caught her attention and pinned it fast to the rosy filly-mare (Glim couldn’t really say which she was - the girl seemed neither but somewhere in between) with a sharp dark-eyes gaze of interest.

“Where do you wander to?” she asks for curiosity’s sake. Glim wanders as well. That’s how she ended up separate from her mother and her father. She just couldn’t really seem to stay for too long in any given place. There was just way too much of the world to see! Not that she found it necessary to see ALL of the world but enough to satisfy the wanderlust that seemed as much of her as blood and bone were.

Glim tipped her head to the side. She’s unusually chipper... she said to Dim. It might just be the right amount of chipper for her. he replied back while puffing out his chest-feathers and readjusting his wings against his sides with a flap and a buzzard-noise that left his throat. Glim snorted then realized that it might be rather impolite because Margaux might think it was directed at her.

She have an exasperated sigh before fixing the buzzard that had flown off her back in retreat with that a not so very nice stare i.e. murderous. Except she’d just revive the shadow anyway so she seized him with her power and cast him unkindly into the shape of a newt. After that she ignored him in favor of answering the question, “Why, everywhere!” and it came out with a chuckle.

I feel weird, not usually this... bubbly.
Dim - not impressed with being turned into a newt - said nothing.

Some help you are, she murmured and left it at that.
