While it feels as if the Archon spends most of his time in limbo, there are a series of memories that color his gray world just enough to keep him alive. Images of Kensa, of his children, of begrudging friendships: they hold his head above water. Recently, there has been a hollowness to his chest - perhaps to his entire existence. He needs the dying embers of happier times to keep crackling, to taste their acrid smoke on the back of his tongue.
Nights in Pangea are cold, and when the shadows take their place upon the earth’s throne, Litotes finds it much more difficult to call those warming memories forward. The twilight is dark, a perfect ombre of indigo and violet and burnt orange. The cremello smiles to himself. This I have, at least, he thinks. The shift of the sky is always clear and beautiful within his land, tonight being no outlier. What remains of the day reflects in his eyes and remains there, as if he holds the power of light within those mirror specks of his gaze.
Alas, he can only tame shadows, and so he swathes himself in them to shelter his mind from a lonesome storm.
Litotes is settling into another night of thoughts as cold as his surroundings when the almost imperceptible clatter of hooves reaches his ears. The distant glaze of his eyes clears to create a sharp, almost suspicious stare. The only clear portion of his visitor is the glow of spots in a pattern he will likely never forget. Starsin. The stallion grins to himself, wondering if the capricious woman was trying to sneak up on him.
“Starsin,” he states, returning her secretive smile with a sly one of his own. The distance between them closes as he steps to meet her, pressing his chest to her’s in an embrace they have never had (yet one that feels so familiar). Lie immediately notices the soft sway of her fur and gentle fragrance of her skin. A flashing moment of want stops in his throat.
“Tell me what secret you’re wearing in that smile,” he murmurs, stepping too quickly back from her touch.
