    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

I saw him before he saw me; like some predator I watched him in secret. Did he know he was in the playground? Perhaps, perhaps I was the one who was wrong and this wasn't the playground. I didn't know. I didn't know anything. The raven feathers knitted my tufty mane.

I snorted at the strange steed, ears pinning against my skull. Was he something to do with the shadows? He stepped closer and I backed away. He wanted to take me? Kidnapping! I grumbled, neck curling into my chest, shielding myself. Backing further up. I had a home, the gates. The gates. But I didn't know how I got here...
