    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Hey there Krieos
    #2
I'm assuming this is a challenge from Gryffen as a herd stallion who happens to be living in the Chamber, since kingdoms cannot challenge herds ;]

    Kreios's Stats:
    Age 7-8
    Percheron Hybrid
    Height is 18hh
    few spot chestnut appaloosa
wildcat imitation (not being used in this battle)

The late afternoon sun is warm on his pale back, and the stallion turns to face the Chamberling with a scowl tarnishing his otherwise handsome face. His shadow reaches nearly to his opponent, who looks rather small with the distance of twenty yards between them. Of course, he <i>is</i> small to Kreios - more than a foot shorter at the withers than the chestnut stallion and with a slimmer build as well. Kreios is no small horse, having inherited most of his sire’s height and bulk, trimmed by his dam’s more baroque build, and full of endurance and strength resulting from daily journeys from the Orange Country to the Desert and the practice required from his as a member of the kingdom’s Army.

Kreios’ reputation might be that of an affable and soft-spoken herd stallion, but he is just as driven to protect his family as his parents had been to protect their kingdoms. Gryffen has made the mistake of toying with a gentle giant who is surprisingly not entirely gentle when the safety of the mother of his child is threatened.

The scowl on Kreios’ face remains in place as he begins the battle, and it is likely to remain there until he returns, victorious, to his family in Orange Country.

He goes from a standstill to a canter as quickly as he can, rushing towards the smaller cremello stallion with the knowledge that to face him means staring into the sun at his back. Gryffen could turn easily avert his eyes from the brightness, of course, but then he’d have to rely on his other senses to tell him where Kreios was, and smell and sound can only do so much to help determine an enemy’s target. The red and white stallion isn’t making any effort at subtlety though, rushing as he is towards the other horse with a long stride and pinned ears.

His general target is the front right of Gryffen’s body, and so he angles himself slightly to his own left to avoid crashing head on into the other stallion. Kreios slows his pace only enough to be sure that he can maintain his balance as he rears and lashes out with his front hooves at Gryffen’s lower right shoulder. Due to the inequity in height and his somewhat lower target, Kreios doesn’t have to rear as high as he would on a horse of his own size, which keeps his center of gravity lower. He intends to use the other stallion to stop his forward momentum, and as such the majority of the intended twenty degree angle impact is likely to come mostly from Kreios’ right hoof and land squarely on Gryffen’s side. His left hoof is less likely to cause damage from this angle, but with a trajectory toward the lower part of Gryffen’s first few ribs it is no small thing either. The impact itself should be enough to knock the cremello off balance, and the force behind the hoof of thousand plus pound stallion could leave a very nasty bruise, if not more seriously muscle damage.

The weight difference between the two stallions is likely to be at least several hundred pounds, and Kreios is doubtful that his opponent is skilled enough to counteract basic physics. Any attempted shoving match would surely end with Kreios as the winner. That is not to say that Gryffen is otherwise defenseless, but Kreios certainly hopes he is. The freckled stallion stays close to the other horse even as his front hooves land on the red clay, knowing that nearness means less of a chance to build momentum in attacks.</p></font></div></td></tr></table></div></tr></td></table></center>
