She had been irritable the last couple days (ahhaha weeks, who was she kidding). Not on purpose, and she expected it was because she was getting closer to evicting the little imp inside her. Nevi had been a constant source of comfort, always pressing soft touches to her body, saying soft things in her ear. She had urged them away from the more populated parts of Tephra, not that they were out amongst the masses that much anyways.
She was wandering, with Nevi at her side, through the hills in the middle of Tephra when she found a perfect little hidey hole that they could just settle on into and ignore the rest of the world moving along outside without them. The universe naturally has other plans and so she feels the first bits of contractions ripple along her sides. She distracts herself with soft touches to his body and other things until they intensify. Until it feels like her body is ripping itself in half.
She doesn’t yell or cry, she merely grunts, ears falling back amongst the tendrils of her mane with each contraction. Even when she makes her way to the ground, even when she can feel the baby slipping from her womb and out into this world, she isn’t loud. She lays there for a moment after it had stopped, her breathing harsh and jagged from the pain. She blinks, rolling up onto her side to take a look at the baby. Their baby.
She cleans it, cleans her and smiles a soft smile at the girl as she wobbles to her feet. “Hi baby.” Her words soft, her nose nudging her gently. “Your daddy named you Lilette. So sure he was of a little girl, that I’m glad you are. I wouldn’t have a name for a boy.” She laughs a little, watching as she stumble staggers those few steps to her teat to eat. Lee’s heart is full and it’s in her eyes as she turns to Nevi, his lips pressing against her cheek. “Look at her, she’s beautiful. She’s ours Nevi.” She takes a moment to lean into his solid strength, before she steadies herself and lets him get a long look at their girl.
