As the children are escorted away, tears stream steadily down her eyes. What could she do for them now, as Maugrim has her in his watery clutches? A silent “I love you” is all she can whisper before the Riverlord is upon her, his water creeping up on her. There is nowhere to run now, no place to hide, so she closes her eyes and braces herself.
His element is forced into her throat and lungs, and she finds herself choking on it. Breaths begin to burn faster than they had the first time, she gags and sputters. His hoof feels strange beneath her jaw, and she gives her Finisher one final, helpless look.
She’d been a queen, and now she was just prey.
His weight presses against her fragile windpipe, and her legs spasm as her body frantically fights for air. There is no peaceful goodbye, she struggles the entire. This was the end of Krone.
