Sakari tore her chocolate brown gaze from the stars as a pinto stallion pranced up to her, snorting and rearing. The mare watched, startled, having to tilt her head upwards to gaze up at him. Being just over fourteen hands or so, she was shorter than most, and a bit intimidated by the stallion's display. Before she could so much as utter a greeting, though, the stallion dashed of, leaving the flummoxed mare standing in silence.
Slowly, she turned her gaze away, facing a buckskin mare who approached her. Sakari, being the rather sweet horse that she was, enthusiastically returned Pevensie's greeting. "Hello there, Pevensie," the young female said gaily, nickering in a friendly manner. "I'm Sakari." She pricked her ears as she took in the sight of the battle-scarred pony, but she didn't mind the scars. She was too excited at the prospect of a new friend.
The young mare fell silent as she listened to Pevensie's next words, speaking of the desert, of a home. Though the young Arabian girl had never lived in the desert (her origins were traced back to the desert, of course, but her most recent ancestors had been imported), the idea of warm weather and endless sand sent a thrill through her, and rashly she nodded, eager for any more information that Pevensie could provide her.
