There is still something tickling in her nose, and Lepis sneezes again.
This time it is hard enough to knock her off balance, and the navy and gold filly collapses into a jumble of limbs. She sighs, but is pleased that the urge to sneeze is finally gone.Very gently, she untangles herself and stretches out one foreleg. She places it gingerly and carefully, followed by the other three, and soon enough she is standing.
Lepis smiles, proud of her rather impressive skill. She is so good at standing! Probably the best there has ever been!
She takes a confident step forward, and while she is a bit wobbly, soon she is standing byt the bushes where -unbeknownst to her - her father has so recently stood. She does smell the tang of the sea and scales rather than flesh, but she does not have words for these things. The filly merely considers them part of her world, this first experience.
There is something past the bushes, she see, the glitter of sunshine on water.
Turning back to Mother, Lepis wickers inquisitively. Words are difficult still, but it is clear from her hopeful look and the excitement in her eyes that she is asking permission to go and see whatever this sparkling thing is.
