When it’s said and done, we’ll have our scars to show
She'd be lying if she said Carnage had not changed her.
His mark, a permanent reminder of all she had been through, her eyes, a gift for all she had sacrificed. But had she sacrificed for the right reasons?
She thinks of him often, as much as she had that first night home in Tephra. Years had passed but the nightmares remain, present even when she is not sleeping. The demon no longer attacks her, but it is there. She can feel its eyes watching her, ever present and unwavering. At night, she can see him lurking in the shadows, blood (her blood) dripping from its teeth, golden eyes following her. She thinks of him now more as a friend (her only friend), so his presence is easier to shake off than it had been before.
Darkness is a cloud that has surrounded her the entirety of her life, even with her gift of vision. Hell, she wore the mark of the Dark God on her face, how could she escape it?
The scar of Deimos around her eye throbs almost continuously. Sometimes, it burns, sometimes it causes a horrendous migraine that could last for hours, days even. Zephyr is not sure why, but so much pain had plagued her, she figured why not a little more?
Something had drawn her here, of all places to be. She had typically avoided forests (too many places for predators to hide, too many objects to avoid) when she was blind, so now it was force of habit. Alabaster legs pull her through the trees, early morning fog casting an eerie glow around her. She would've been afraid, had she not grown used to creepy things.
Her eye throbs steadily as she moves, almost like it had its own heartbeat. It thumps so loud, she can hear it in her ears. The deeper into the woods she goes, the more painful the throbbing becomes, the louder it gets.
thump, Thump, THUMP.
The cycle continues until it is almost unbearable. Her ears begin to ring as if she had been hit by some malevolent force. Had it ever hurt this bad before? She cannot even bring herself to scream, any more movement and she might just burst.
And then it stops. No throbbing, no ringing, no pain. She brings herself to look up, milky eyes finding the black of a stallion's. She would've thought this was the demon, had it not been for the color of his eyes. Was it Carnage again? Had she even seen him in his lair?
Confusion is evident in all her features. She cannot bring herself to speak as she stares at him. How had he found her?
Or had he been there all along?

Zephyr
@[Deimos] okay so basically the same demon she fought in the Carnage quest still follows her around, just to clear that up lmao.
