    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The trip to the volcano couldn’t have been better. Ever since Lucrezia had told her about her own experience, she had been eager to go herself. It had just been as Tephra’s former queen had told her. Thinking back to it she can recall feeling the heat on her skin, the dampness of the air and oh, that view. It had been spectacular. So high up the volcano they had been able to see over the fog that sometimes clouded Tephra, and never before had she been able to view her surroundings this far.

She’d had great company too. Levi had been nothing but kind to her, even joking around with her in a harmless way. He had also been more than willing to answer her questions, about himself and his adventures and about Tephra. On top of that he’d also been interested in her.

Amorette recalls Levi asking about her family. She’d first come to Tephra in order to find her family. While staying in the meadow she had heard about Tephra’s leader and after the Reckoning she hadn’t dared to hope that the whispers were true. They had been, as Magnus had greeted her upon her arrival, but he had also been quick to leave after that. The smoky black mare didn’t have any family left in Tephra – or not that she knew of – but that didn’t stop her from returning. After all, the volcano still lured her in like a moth is lured to a flame.

The uneven ground of the volcano isn’t the most comfortable place to be standing, but since she’s not too far up it is bearable. Just a couple of meters above sea level and it gives Amore the chance to glance around Tephra’s meadow. Lush and green, even though it was winter in other parts of Beqanna. Not that she would be complaining, Amorette loved the heat though she hadn’t missed the humidity of Tephra. She would need some more time to adjust herself to that again.

Her soft nicker is carried by a soft breeze. She’d been without contact with other equine for a while and although it hadn’t been the first time, Amore longs for some contact. She had enough of being alone and it would be time she would try to become the diplomat her father had always told her she would become.
